Its founder who once served time after 15 armed robberies is proud to say he’s now an accredited police vetting agent – “I’ve still got that framed on the wall’’.

“Every time something happens like that, it feels like I’ve gone full circle. Got a firearms licence – full circle, now I’m on a Firearms Authority [Māori] forum. I told them, you know what I’ve been [in prison], and they said ‘yeah, we know, it’s good to have a perspective like that amongst everyone else’. I thought that was pretty cool. I don’t think anyone else in the firearms forum can talk about armed robberies the way I can, or firearm safety.
