National’s decision to stick with Christopher Luxon appears at odds with the wider public, with more voters saying the caucus got it wrong than right.

The latest RNZ-Reid Research poll gauged voters’ views on National’s emergency caucus meeting two weeks ago, where a majority of MPs opted to keep Luxon as leader, foiling a bid to replace him.

Asked whether that was the right call, 45.4 per cent of respondents said no, compared with 36.8 per cent who said yes.

Another 17.8 per cent were unsure.
