Te Pukenga, NZ’s merged mega polytech, is predicting a $110m deficit. CEO (and ex-head of Auckland City Council) Stephen Town was earning nearly $700,000 per annum but is now on leave for “personal reasons”.

Tertiary Education Commission deputy chief executive Gillian Dudgeon alerted Minister of Education Chris Hipkins as to how dire the situation was in May this year but a quick search shows MPs were already aware of serious issues last year. Why was it allowed to continue so long?
