A high-profile gang member, known for the ‘Notorious’ tattoo across his face, has admitted dealing methamphetamine and cannabis in prison while on remand for the violent assault of his partner and a Good Samaritan who helped her.

Poutawa ‘Puk’ Kireka, who once enjoyed fleeting international fame for his tattoo, is the captain of Mongrel Mob’s ‘Notorious’ chapter and was in Hawke’s Bay prison on remand after the assaults, which occurred in the early hours of Sunday, September 25, 2022.

Kireka, 36, has pleaded guilty to attacking the man aged in his late 70s, who stopped to assist Kireka’s partner after she waved down his car and pleaded for help.

He is being sentenced on those matters later this month.
