The Chinese Government is accused of an attempted kidnapping in Auckland of a Chinese man who was left hospitalised with serious injuries after he fought back.

Liu “Michael” Quanzhou told his story to Stuff Circuit for the documentary The Long Game, an investigation into Chinese Communist Party (CCP) interference in New Zealand.

The attempted kidnapping happened in 2004 but a campaign of intimidation has continued ever since. Liu has only now decided to publicly reveal his case because he is concerned at the “serious” level of CCP “infiltration” in New Zealand and says he is subjected to an ongoing programme of intimidation.

“They can do anything, they will do anything to their own people.”
