Six years ago, UK Labour tried to install a virulent anti-Semite at No 10. In Australia, the Albanese Labor government has presided over a shocking surge of anti-Semitism, culminating in the horrifying massacre of 15 Jewish Australians at Bondi, last December. The Australian Greens have increasingly openly embraced vicious anti-Semitism. The darlings of the Australian left unashamedly call for violence against Jews.
Now, in the US, a Democrat senator is openly accusing the party of making anti-Semitism mainstream within its ranks.
Speaking with CNN on Saturday, the Pennsylvania [Senator John Fetterman] was asked whether he believes his party has “a problem with antisemitism.”
“Sure, definitely,” Fetterman answered.
Fetterman pointed to the normalization of anti-Jewish bigotry within the party’s progressive base, citing the case of Graham Platner.
Platner, as reported previously by The Good Oil, remains the Democrats’ leading candidate for the Senate in Maine – despite openly brandishing a Nazi SS tattoo for decades. He has also repeatedly praising Hamas for murdering Jews. This is the Democrat front-runner for a Senate seat.
“I mean, the guy that’s going to win the primary in Maine has a Nazi tattoo on his chest,” said Fetterman. “And that’s no problem for a lot of voters. … That’s crazy.”
“Now we know that he knew what that was. I mean, if you are back over 12, 13 years cheering the deaths of Israeli soldiers, you clearly have an issue [of antisemitism]. And the left has a serious issue with antisemitism.”
Fetterman also cited the popularity of far-left influencers within the Democratic Party such as Hasan Piker, a vociferous critic of Israel who has also expressed support for the Hamas terror organization.
“They are just palling around [with] something like Hasan Piker. You know, the guy who is absolutely proud to cheer for Hamas, loves Hamas. Democrats are proud to stand with him and campaign with him.”
Fetterman is cementing his reputation as the last sane Democrat.
“We have a serious problem with my party. So, if I have to be the last man standing in the Democratic Party, I’m proud to stand with Israel,” Fetterman added.
This begs the question of why he sticks with them at all. Fetterman could easily quit the Democrats and remain in Congress. Indeed, it’s increasingly obvious that the Democrat machine is preparing to dump him for a more lunar-left candidate at the next elections.
But then, rampant hypocrisy is what the Democrats, like the rest of the left, just do.
For the past few decades, Democrats have consistently demanded a strong response to the rising number of hate crimes motivated by race, ethnicity, ancestry or sexual orientation. Among other things, they have insisted on universal condemnation of the crimes and vigorous enforcement of federal laws that criminalize hate crimes.
Unless the targets of the hate crimes are real hate crimes, that is, instead of the endless list of fake ‘hate crimes’ peddled by black and gay activists. And certainly not if the targets of the real hate crimes are Jews.
Now the Democratic Party has an antisemitism problem on its left flank, and its tune has changed a bit. Leftist professional organizers have mobilized student groups and mobs elsewhere to attack, harass and obstruct the free movement of Jews — all of which are crimes.
Just as Labor in Australia’s coddling of leftist and Muslim anti-Semitism has led to a tidal wave of anti-Semitic incidents, anti-Semitic assault, harassment and vandalism surged by 140 per cent in 2023 alone.
Few if any Democrats have insisted on federal criminal prosecutions for the more than 1,500 reported antisemitic incidents on college campuses since the Oct 7 attack, though hate crime laws specifically identify violence, intimidation and harassment on school campuses – including impeding free movement, as has repeatedly happened to Jewish students – as a federal crime.
For over 60 years, Jewish Americans have been the Democrats’ most reliable and generous supporters. This is how their generosity is returned.
