Here’s something a little different from the usual menu of politics. Let’s talk knives…sharp knives.
A mate of mine has decided to spend his lockdown boredom making knives. Just after I skinned Siouxsie Wiles he contacted me and asked if I wanted a knife made.
Naturally, I said yes, and decided to make a skinning knife.
This is the really cool part of what @biggles_blades does: you can have as much or as little input into the design process as you want. Let’s walk through that process and explain how the Slater Signature Series Skinner came to life.
I wanted a skinner and I also wanted a gut hook. This is the rough design on a knife blank of 1095 steel.
Now to remove the excess metal.
Taking shape, still a bit of metal to be removed around the gut hook.
Almost there with the final shape.
Applying the carbon fibre and ironwood grip scales.
Time to finally shape the grip.
Close, but no cigar yet.
And now for the finished blade. The leather sheath was hand made by another mate @mahumarlin.
As I mentioned before, the steel is 1095, the grips are ironwood and carbon fibre. The sheath is hand-stitched custom leather made with laser monograms. It is a beautiful and functional knife.

AS this is part of the signature series it has my signature on it.
If you are looking for a custom blade and are wanting to be involved in the design process then give Marcus from @biggles_blades a holler via Instagram, or if you are old school give me a holler and I will put you in touch.
They won’t be cheap, so if you are miserable don’t bother. You get what you pay for, and these are quality.
I’m thinking of offering it for sale or auction. Let me know what you think in the comments below.
