Guy Fawkes Is Two Days Too Early

There it is folks, the asylum collection personified. They will fail to light the fuse of those wanting sanity in government and policies designed to grow the wealth of the country.

If only the election had coincided with Guy Fawkes Night. That particular event was born out of a political feud. As you will recall the man himself, with a group of Catholic conspirators, hid 36 barrels of gunpowder beneath the House of Lords aiming to blow up the British Parliament and assassinate the Protestant King James I. Unfortunately they were betrayed and the plot was foiled. I predict a similar scenario here two days later on 7 November. The left coalition plot to overthrow the right coalition will be similarly foiled, not by gunpowder but by a mechanism known as the ‘split vote’, perfectly legitimate under the MMP system.

If implemented in big enough numbers, this particular ploy will blow up the left coalition leaving behind a smouldering ruin of Labour, the Greens and the Māori Party plus Opportunity, if it makes the five per cent threshold which I seriously doubt. The fireworks of the election campaign will turn to ashes for the left on election night. Remember Hipkins’ plan to light a bonfire to destroy certain policies once he became leader? This time the right will do it for him with possibly an AI created ‘Guy Fawkes’ Chippie sitting astride it.

I have been investigating which fireworks are available this year. Of the assorted groups, the ones I think Hipkins and the left should purchase are Shockwave, Powder Keg, Code Red, Armageddon and, most appropriate of all, the Asylum Collection. On the right, those most applicable are the Festival Sparkler Pack, Out Of This World, Break Out, and Big Shots. Think about it. The results will send a shockwave to Hipkins sitting on a powder keg waving a Code Red and waiting for Armageddon. The right will have been spared the asylum collection.

The festival sparklers will be waving on the right celebrating results that are out of this world, caused largely by a break out by ACT and NZ First and seeing some big shots returned to government, including Erica Stanford, Mark Mitchell, Simeon Brown, Todd McClay, David Seymour, Nicole McKee, Winston Peters and Shane Jones. National is showing itself to be strong on the economy and law and order. Their promise to end the ‘right to silence’ nonsense is long overdue and will find favour with the vast majority of voters. There is a lot to like about many of ACT policies and the continuation of NZ First’s Fast Track and energy policies.

And what of the left? They have decided to celebrate Guy Fawkes early by lighting political bonfires all over the place. Their strategy, if their policies are anything to go by, is to send smoke signals saying ‘don’t vote for us’. The lunacy of Labour in strategic areas like education, where they want to scrap the basics of learning that Erica Stanford has introduced, only to find that two-thirds of their own voters support them. This is typical of Labour’s laissez-faire approach to education: let the lefty teachers decide. What we then get is indoctrination on topics far removed from what should be being taught in the classroom.

Then we get to them scrapping oil and gas exploration. They might not have caught up with the fact their comrades in the UK are about to start drilling in the North Sea. UK Labour has decided to forgo its ideology in favour of doing what is best for the country. Economically, they are in a hole similar to that which Labour left us in 2023. Hipkins and Edmonds have a cheek pretending they are better economic managers than National. Nicola Willis may not have been perfect but three more years of Labour and we would have found ourselves in a much worse situation as Jordan Williams points out in his latest Taxpayers’ Union missive.

Hipkins and Edmonds are arguing over whether their idiotic capital gains tax applies to inflation. Edmonds says inflation has already been accounted for. Trust me: “I’m a tax lawyer.” Hipkins obviously doesn’t trust her because he says inflation will be taxed. On top of that there’s the cohabiting with the gangs. Chippie’s troubles are just beginning in this area. He’s trying to make out it was a mistake to use public money to fund them. Unfortunately, Jordan Williams has launched one of those Code Reds against him. He has uncovered a paper, when Hipkins was PM, that suggested the funding be stopped. It was ignored!

What about the Greens? One thing we do know is that they are economically illiterate. According to Jordan Williams, their economic lunacy has now reached $253.88 BILLION. That is $122,528 for every household in the country. Also, the Greens have only identified sufficient additional taxes to cover 8.6 per cent of their promised spending. They want to start funding the gangs again. One wonders what happened to the environmental party that once existed.

The Māori Party would believe their finest achievement would be to have the country run under their parliament with laws they have designed, and overarching it all would be the Waitangi Tribunal and a Māori-led judiciary deciding everything in favour of Māori. This lunacy would ensure they become the wealthy and the rest of us just do as we are told. Finally, there’s the Opportunity Party, who laughingly claim to be a centrist outfit. You have to ask how far left has the centre moved.

There it is folks, the asylum collection personified. They will fail to light the fuse of those wanting sanity in government and policies designed to grow the wealth of the country. It is ironic that the left, supposedly so worried about the cost of living, want to tax people more. It won’t be just the rich, it will be everyone to a greater or lesser degree. Just ask Barbara “I’m a tax lawyer” Edmonds.

You wonder how these people lie in bed straight.
