Yesterday was a stand-up day for highlighting just how wonky the NZ mainstream media are when a senior and usually respected journalist, Audrey Young, lambasts the government for what is an unforgivable sin in her mind: the fact they are honouring election promises.
The problem with this particular Government is that there were too few objections by partner parties. There was not a fine enough filter at the time of negotiations. Resources of government are not infinite, so it means the resources of this Government will be tied up for three years not only on policies that really matter, but also many policies that don’t matter much but made it into the Gospel – the coalition documents

All of the media were breathlessly reporting how long negotiations were taking, running talking-head stories about how long they take and who is behind delays and demanding it be done faster, and now you are crying tears because not enough time was put into the negotiations?
