How Is This Not Supporting Terrorism?

Singing the praises of a terror leader is textbook terror support.

If someone offers support for the leader of a listed terrorist organisation, that makes them a…? “Terrorism supporter”, obviously.

And that is very clearly against the law in Australia.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is a listed terrorist organisation in Australia. People have been charged and convicted for publicly supporting its affiliated terror groups, such as Hezbollah. So, it seems a no-brainer that any groups of people publicly praising the leader of the IRGC are at least prima facie supporting terrorism.

So, where are our police and politicians? Gutlessly sitting on their hands, as ever.

The Jewish community has challenged police to prosecute Australians honouring slain Iranian supreme leader Ali Khamenei, whose Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps was designated just months ago as a terrorist organisation.

Don’t bet on NSW Police doing a damned thing. When a Muslim mob stormed the Sydney Opera House, in scenes that shocked the world in October 2023, the sole person arrested was a Jewish Australian man for carrying an Israeli flag. The thousands of troglodyte anti-Semites chanting ‘Gas the Jews’ just a stone’s throw away were left untouched to scream their unhinged hate.

When Islamic hate-monger Wissam Haddad was bellowing invective and incitements to violence against Jews, yet again NSW Police did nothing. It took civil action by Jewish Australians to see Haddad rightfully prosecuted.

With NSW Police again sitting on their hands while Muslims publicly support terrorists, it will almost certainly be left to the Jewish community to get the justice they deserve. The most they can hope for, from a Labor government terrified of losing the crucial votes of Western Sydney’s Muslim suburbs, is a few mealy mouthed weasel-words.

Even that is enough to send the typically glass-jawed into yet another fit of pique.

The call came as Muslim groups warned of a growing breakdown in their relationship with NSW Premier Chris Minns over his condemnation of the public mourning, declaring the Labor leader had “vilified” them and “used” the community following years of political support.

This is what happens when you indulge bad behaviour for decades. Labor made a Faustian bargain for Muslim votes and now they’re being told to dance to their political masters’ tune.

Shi’ite Muslim mosques across Sydney have invited members to publicly mourn the Ayatollah’s “martyrdom”, with Liverpool mayor Ned Mannoun defending one such event held at a council-run community centre.

The events follow the government’s move in November to proscribe the IRGC as a terror group after ASIO’s assessment that the organisation was responsible for the 2024 firebombings of Melbourne’s Adass Israel Synagogue and Lewis’ Continental Kitchen in Sydney.

The listing noted that “as Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei ultimately controls and appoints the heads of the IRGC”.

This should be no different to someone who flies a swastika flag or publicly praises Adolf Hitler. As a swastika-tattooed beachgoer at Bondi recently found, public support for Nazism draws a swift official response.

Publicly supporting Islamic terrorists? Crickets.

Make no mistake: this is open support for terrorism, as Executive Council of Australian Jewry co-chief executive Alex Ryvchin points out.

“They are mourning the man who stood at the helm of a state that carried out at least two terrorist attacks on Australian soil,” he told the Australian.

“What message does it send when religious leaders in Australia praise and lionise him as a hero?

“It says follow in his path. Emulate his deeds. We can’t stand for this as Australians. The IRGC was listed as a terrorist group to criminalise providing support for it.”

But Labor governments, state and federal, know perfectly well who’s buttering their political khobz.

The Australian Federal Police and Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke declined to comment.

Tony Burke’s seat has the highest concentration of Muslims of any in Australia. Of course he won’t risk setting off the rage-monkeys.

No matter how obviously and repeatedly they support terrorists.

Sheik Nabha has been a vocal supporter of the Iranian regime for years, invited Iranian ambassadors in 2017 and 2020 to the Masjid Arrahman mosque he runs in Kingsgrove, and held vigils in 2023 for slain Hezbollah terrorists […]

A high-level source said mourning a “spiritual leader” was unlikely to meet the legal threshold for charges to be laid unless those praising the ayatollah were advocating violence.

You mean, like this?

On Sunday night, he led a sermon calling for the “struggle” against “American-Israeli aggression” to continue in the wake of Khamenei’s death, according to translations done by the Australian.

This is why we must follow the lead of countries like Denmark and require all sermons to be in the national language. As the television documentary, Undercover Mosque showed, what Muslims say in public in English, and what they say behind closed mosque doors in their own languages, are often alarmingly different.
