Is Luxon Trying to Cuddle Hamas?

Christopher Luxon is trying very hard to be the overbearing boss that everyone hates. He’s yanked Chris Bishop’s chain for a strongly worded email that was 100% correct in every regard, and yet Luxon pulled him into line.

National Party leader Christopher Luxon has spoken to a senior MP over a “strongly worded” email about the Israel-Hamas conflict.

The email, widely shared on social media, appears to show MP Chris Bishop replying to a member of the public and likening Hamas’ actions in Israel to the Holocaust.

“Hamas terrorists butchered women and children were in a rampage of violence and hate.

“Such barbarity has not been seen since the Holocaust.”

Luxon told Radio New Zealand the language used was “strong” and it showed there were high emotions on both sides.

The National Party leader told Newshub the advice he gave Bishop was that he should have been more careful with his choice of language.

National and the outgoing Labour Government had been calling for a humanitarian truce to allow aid into Gaza.

Luxon told Newshub he “absolutely condemns” the attacks on Israel by Hamas, but urged both parties to comply with international law and obligations.

He told The AM Show that he was thinking about affected communities in New Zealand.

”I am thinking about our Jewish community here in New Zealand, our Muslim community here in New Zealand. It’s an incredibly difficult time,” he said.

What on earth is Luxon thinking? Who is he trying to appeal to? Hamas?

Chris Bishop was 100% factually correct, the 7 October massacre IS the worst mass killing of Jews since the Holocaust.

Somebody should ask our “Muslim community” in New Zealand how they feel about Luxon lumping them in with Hamas terrorists.

He is fast creating an environment where everyone will be afraid to act or say anything.  We get this a lot in government departments here – a third-world country.

But there is no apparent media concern over left-wing party MPs, including co-leaders casually throwing around terms like “genocide” and “apartheid” with no factual basis – they all get a free pass. No one is yanking them back into line.

If I were a National Party caucus member I’d be cringing that this fool is even speaking, and clearly speaking without actually knowing anything at all about that which he speaks. And it shows.

It seems to me that every time a National MP says something decent that makes me think they are getting ‘back on track’ the MP is “spoken to” by Luxon.

I never thought that I’d be defending Chris Bishop, but here we are.
