Here’s one that’s sure to provoke a really epic ‘Kimmel Cry’. Late-night performing NPC Jimmy Kimmel became notorious for turning on the crocodile-tears waterworks whenever his chip got updated with the day’s Current Thing.
Well, as my old dad would say, now he’s been given something to really cry about.
Disney said it is pulling ABC late-night host Jimmy Kimmel’s show in the wake of remarks he made about the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Well, at least he’s finally making people laugh.
“ ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ will be pre-empted indefinitely,” an ABC spokeswoman said on Wednesday.
The suspension begins with the planned Wednesday night (local time) broadcast.
Federal Communications Commission chairman Brendan Carr criticised Kimmel during an interview with conservative political podcaster Benny Johnson on Wednesday and suggested the regulatory agency could take action against the broadcast licences of ABC-owned stations.
Owners of some ABC stations, including large broadcaster Nexstar Media Group, told the network they were dropping the show.
Kimmel is just the latest, and undoubtedly the most famous, person to lose their job for celebrating the murder of Charlie Kirk. He joins a host of journalists, Secret Service agents, government workers, service workers, academics and more, who’ve all been shown the door after they took to social media to gleefully cheer on a political assassination and to blame the victim for his own murder
In his Monday night broadcast, Kimmel – who has often criticised President Donald Trump on his show – said, “the MAGA gang (is) desperately trying to characterise this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it” […]
Kimmel also said Vice-President JD Vance and others in “MAGA-land” were trying to capitalise on Kirk’s death.
And, just like that, Kimmel discovered the law of FAFO.
Nexstar, which owns and operates 32 ABC affiliates in large and mid-sized markets, said Kimmel’s remarks about Kirk’s death and his followers were beyond the pale.
“Mr Kimmel’s comments about the death of Mr Kirk are offensive and insensitive at a critical time in our national political discourse, and we do not believe they reflect the spectrum of opinions, views or values of the local communities in which we are located,” said Andrew Alford, president of Nexstar’s broadcasting division.
In even better news, US President Donald Trump is taking long-overdue action on a violent terror group.
President Donald Trump on Wednesday announced he will designate antifa, a left-wing activist group, as a “major terrorist organization.”
The announcement comes a day after a press conference where Trump was asked if he’d consider such a move. “One hundred per cent,” Trump responded. He kept his word.
I am pleased to inform our many USA. Patriots that I am designating ANTIFA, A SICK, DANGEROUS, RADICAL LEFT DISASTER, AS A MAJOR TERRORIST ORGANIZATION. I will also be strongly recommending that those funding ANTIFA be thoroughly investigated in accordance with the highest legal standards and practices. Thank you for your attention to this matter!
With Antifa designated as a terror group in the US, where will that leave the Australian and NZ governments?
