Hiding in his basement worked for Joe Biden in 2020, but facing the glare of public appearances wrecked his 2024 campaign as the president mumbled and doddered along like a barely animated zombie. His installed successor, an all-too-animated and cackling zombie, has been in virtual hiding for the last 40 days. The Dems were only going to get away with trying the same trick for so long. Sooner or later, Kamala Harris would have to face the press.
But if the DNC thought the announcement of Harris’ first interview of the campaign would quell doubts about her ability to even form coherent sentences, they’ve got another think coming. Critics have pounced on the fact that Harris is not only doing a pre-recorded interview, allowing a compliant CNN to edit out the awkward babbling and cackling, but the supposedly strong, independent, competent black woman can apparently only face the press with an old white guy holding her hand.
Harris will be interviewed Thursday on CNN by leftist Dana Bash and she will be accompanied by her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.
The interview will air at the same time that the first full slate of college football games kick off on Thursday night – 21 games total – after only a few were played over the weekend.
Far from quelling doubts about Harris’ ability, the announcement drew immediate mockery.
“I don’t know if Democrats fully realize how damaging the image of the possible first woman president being incapable of giving an interview alone without the presence of a man to help her is,” said Meghan McCain.
Former CBS News White House Correspondent Mark Knoller posted on X […] “First question to Harris ought to be why [she] couldn’t appear solo.”
CNN political commentator Scott Jennings said that it was “incredibly weak” that Harris could not do the interview by herself and that it showed the party did not have confidence in her.
Veteran Texas Senator Ted Cruz remarked that, “I have never once seen a presidential candidate who was so weak that he or she needed their vice presidential candidate as a safety blanket”.
Cruz also slammed CNN for not airing the interview live and in its entirety.
“They’re going to pre-tape it, and then CNN is going to edit it,” he said.
“And I believe, and I think many Americans believe, CNN is going to edit it so if and when Kamala says things that are dumb, if and when she says some word salad, if and when there’s a moment that’s bad, they’ll cut it right out.”
For all the DNC’s desperate attempts to control the narrative by only exposing Harris to slavish, cult-like, captive Democrat audiences and lickspittle, soft-ball media, things are far from going as they would hope.
Despite what the media are saying right now, Kamala Harris is not running away with the presidential race; this race is effectively a dead heat. Nothing has changed since that sparkling Democratic National Convention.
A brand-new Yahoo News/YouGov poll shows Harris leads Donald Trump by one point in a head-to-head matchup among registered voters. The margin of error is three points, which means this is a dead heat. Not only that, but the previous Yahoo News/YouGov poll also found Harris and Trump tied at 46% apiece, which means she got no bounce from the DNC.
Yet, if you were to believe the mainstream media, Harris is the runaway favourite. Well, if you believe the mainstream media, then more fool you.
Notably, too, the DNC aren’t letting ‘Coach Serial Liar’, Tim Walz, out on his own, either.
The Harris campaign has openly admitted Walz has also not been allowed to do independent interviews one-on-one with anybody because they’re afraid he will say something that is at odds with their actual positions.
The reason they’re having them both in the room at the same time is so they get their stories straight. They wouldn’t want a prisoner’s dilemma where the two are separated and asked the same question but give different answers. She’s flipping her positions on and off like a light switch.
Remember: these two are the best the DNC machine could install.
