Nearly 40 years after the fall of Soviet communism, it’s ideological bastard child, wokeness, is being slain by something equally basic: people like looking at pretty, buxom girls in good clothes.
But nothing quite testifies to the tenacity of the ‘woke mind virus’ in some circles than the fact that its advocates are trying to counterattack by pointing out that the pretty girl in question is a conservative who likes classic cars and guns.
Yes, really.
The Left desperately wants to keep people, but especially young men, from falling heads-over-heels for blondes with blue eyes and great “jeans.” They think white people being portrayed as the standard of beauty is problematic to their ongoing crusade to “do the work” and “decolonize.”
But all their screeching about Nazism has done is show tens of millions of men – most of them who had no idea who Sweeney was – that she’s a Republican who loves guns.
And has a TikTok channel where she works on classic cars.

Leftists are so thoroughly uncool now that they don’t understand the Barbra Streisand Effect. The more you tell people Sydney Sweeney is undesirable, the more they will desire her.
This is the part the woke left just don’t get: if they hadn’t immediately started screeching like fishwives that a clothing commercial represented an existential threat to democracy and the survival of freedom itself, no one would have cared that much. It would have been just another eye-pleasing ad with a mildly clever tagline. But, thanks to the demented screaming of the left, it’s become a defining cultural moment.

And the Jaguar ad, despite left-media swooning, was a genuine disaster. Jaguar sales collapsed by a stunning 97.5 per cent in 12 months: the company sold less than 50 cars in April this year. Undaunted by plain-as-day reality, the legacy media are insisting that ‘it’s not what it looks like!’ Well, it looks very much what it looks like, with the resignation of the company’s CEO after 30 years.
Mind you, this is the same legacy media who insist, in defiance of clear, unambiguous CCTV footage, that the Midtown Manhattan shooter was ‘white’, that anti-migrant riots in Spain are ‘anti-tourism’ and that grotesquely obese singer Lizzo is ‘healthy’ and ‘beautiful’.
A public database in Florida’s Monroe county shows Sweeney, who has starred in TV series Euphoria and The White Lotus and rom-com Anyone But You, was registered there as a Republican voter last June, only weeks after Mr Trump was convicted in New York of criminal falsification of business records in the run-up to last year’s election. Her registration was discovered by a YouTuber who said she came across it while putting together a profile of Sweeney.
You mean, while she was trying to doxx her.
White House communications director Stephen Cheung called it “cancel culture run amok”, adding: “This warped, moronic and dense liberal thinking is a big reason why Americans voted the way they did in 2024.”
Meanwhile, JD Vance has some advice for the left: now you’re neck-deep in this hole, keep digging! Please!

For their part, American Eagle and Sweeney are doing exactly the right thing: respectively, refusing to back down, and ignoring the lunatic screeching.
