Left Leadership Blows the Mind

The Chamberlain strategy didn’t work then and it won’t work now. Peace through strength is what works and America has it in abundance.

And not, in this case, in a good way. In fact, if you think about it, practically never in a good way. My thinking has always been we were all born with the same amount of grey matter but there are occasions when one starts to wonder.

I’m talking about our political leaders’ reactions to the war with Iran. Anyone with a modicum of intelligence can see the necessity for the military action that has been taken. Even our prime minister has removed his woke glasses and donned ones showing realism. He saw there was no other choice.

Before going further, let’s be clear on Trump’s objectives in this theatre. The main one is to remove the Ayatollah and senior leaders in his regime. This was achieved and will assist in securing his next objective, which is regime change. Once that happens then the other objectives, of no longer developing nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles, can become a reality. Trump has no interest in running Iran or being involved in what the next administration might look like or who is involved. He is simply creating the means whereby the Iranian people can take back their country and in the process make the Middle East a more stable region and the world a safer place. That is it.

Luxon and Peters have come out in support of what is taking place. In a joint statement they said the people of Iran must be allowed to determine their own future, away from the Islamic regime. Not so Labour Leader Chris Hipkins, who said the situation in Iran was “deeply concerning”. First mind-blowing statement. Did anyone hear those words from him while the regime was slaughtering its own people in the tens of thousands? Not a peep.

He went on to say, “Our first thoughts are with the Iranian people caught up in this conflict in Iran – in the countries in the wider region – and the New Zealand families worried about loved ones. We recognise the courage of Iranians who have taken to the streets demanding change, at enormous political risk, and we condemn the serious human rights violations that have been perpetrated against them. Military escalation does not produce the stability the region needs.” One can only deduce that he wagged school history lessons.

Hipkins further commented, “The attacks on Iran and the retaliatory strikes undermine international peace and security and put civilian lives at risk. New Zealand must urge all parties – including close allies – to show restraint, pursue diplomatic solutions and, first and foremost, protect the rights and safety of Iranian civilians. New Zealand must use its voice on the world stage to call for de-escalation (who is going to listen Chris?), for a return to negotiations and for the right of the Iranian people to determine their own future.” Second mind-blowing statement.

So, on the one hand Hipkins condemns the violence and on the other he wants a return to negotiations, which means the violence he rightly condemns will continue. I don’t think Trump, in his hearts of hearts, believed dialogue would succeed. You can’t negotiate with someone who clearly doesn’t accept your terms.

Trump’s conditions were very clear: no nuclear weapons and no ballistic missiles. The negotiations were the means of giving Iran a chance (they have had endless chances) to agree. Trump has run out of patience and, having negotiated, is now completely justified in attacking Iran.

The reality is the people were in the streets risking their lives begging for Trump to do exactly what he is doing. Their worst fear was that he would not carry out his promise. Being more clued up than Hipkins, they recognise the futility of talking. But Trump is a man of his word: he said he would strike and he has.

If Iran agreed to Trump’s demands, who believes the regime would honour the agreement? Only a naive fool: a description that rather aptly describes the Labour leader; it also describes the Greens and the Māori Party. Marama Davidson moans that the prime minister’s failure to condemn Trump’s illegal actions showed his lack of leadership and moral courage. Where was her moral courage to speak up when the civilian slaughter was going on? Again, not a peep.

Davidson said, “This latest escalation in aggression is part of a decades-long behaviour of the US dragging the region into more wars, violence and bloodshed.” Third mind-blowing statement. No mention of the bloodshed caused by the evil regime. She continued, “The wider region has been drawn into this violence, with hundreds reported dead in a single day.” Again, no mention of the thousands killed in Iran in a single day by their own hierarchy. “The idea that you attack another country just because you don’t like their leader is reprehensible.” That piece of idiocy is ignoring the fact this is precisely what the majority of Iranians were crying out for.

She said Trump and Netanyahu’s attack on Iran “must be condemned as an illegal and unprovoked attack against the people of the region and any genuine pathway to peace”. Expect some sort of adornment supporting terrorism when parliament next meets.

The statement from the Māori Party said, “We reject the idea that bombing, invasion or unilateral military strikes create peace.” They also appear to have skipped the history lessons. That is not surprising when you consider they don’t seem to have a good understanding of their own. The statement continued with more nonsensical verbiage that is not worth repeating.

What Trump is doing is the only hope the Iranian people have for freedom. How do these types think World War II would have ended up if we had settled for Chamberlain’s ‘peace in our time’ nonsense. We would most likely all be speaking German today. It took military action and the brilliance and determination of the likes of Churchill and Montgomery to ensure the war was won. In 2026, Trump is that man sorting out the dictators and sponsors of terrorism. He is doing what other presidents before him have not had the courage to do.

If the Iran mission succeeds, and it looks like it will, the Middle East will be a changed region and for the better. We should all be thankful that the man in the Oval Office, along with his good friends in Israel, are doing what is needed to ensure peace comes to that part of the world. Both countries are risking the lives of their men and women in uniform in order to bring peace about. This may take some time.

The rank hypocrisy and verbal stupidity of the left is the last thing that is needed. The Chamberlain strategy didn’t work then and it won’t work now. Peace through strength is what works and America has it in abundance.

It would not surprise me, now that Iran is firing missiles indiscriminately into neighbouring countries, if other European countries and some from the Arab world join the war.
