Let us recognise mātauranga Māori for what it is: an indigenous knowledge tradition with cultural value. But let us also have the courage to say it is not science. It never was. And we do our young people – Māori and non-Māori alike – a disservice by pretending otherwise.
New Zealand deserves better than ideology dressed up as enlightenment. Science must remain science. And honesty must remain the foundation of public discourse.
