The US left have chosen the most absurd of hills to die on. Deporting illegal immigrants is the Trump administration’s single most popular policy. Republicans near-universally support it and even a majority of Democrat voters support deportations. Overall, a strong majority of Americans strongly favour deporting anyone who is in the country illegally.
So, why are Democrats nailing their future on opposing it?
The Trump administration is weighing arrests for three Democratic members of Congress who were involved in the New Jersey Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility incident that took place on Friday. The Department of Homeland Security said that the members of Congress assaulted and slammed ICE agents, but the Democrat House members have denied the claims.
Well, they can deny it all they want: we have the video, which clearly shows Reps Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-NJ), Rob Menendez (D-NJ) and LaMonica McIver (D-NJ) in a melee with security agents – federal law enforcement officers – at the facility gates. McIver is, despite her furious denials that she dindunuffin, is clearly visible in video footage pushing and striking an ICE enforcement officer with a closed fist.
Serious Assault (No Deadly Weapon) is a felony which involves making actual physical contact with the officer, with “the intent to commit another felony”. Trespassing on property that is specifically restricted by law (like ICE property) can also be a felony.
If charged, the Democrat politicians face potential fines of up to $250,000, and up to eight years in prison.
During a CNN interview on Saturday morning, DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin said that “there will likely be more arrests coming” as a result of the incident after the lawmakers reportedly rushed past security to gain access to the ICE facility […]
“We actually have body camera footage of these members of Congress assaulting these ICE enforcement officers, including body slamming a female ICE officer,” McLaughlin added. She said that there is an “ongoing investigation” into the matter and that arresting the members of Congress is “definitely on the table.”
Even less convincing than McIver’s denials are the sort of sob stories the mainstream media are peddling for the sake of illegal immigrants.
The Georgia college student in federal custody who could be deported after she was pulled over by local cops should have never been stopped, officials admitted Monday.
No, they didn’t. The media are pulling another swift one here.
What police in Dalton, Georgia, actually said was that Mexican national Ximena Arias-Cristobal “was wrongly accused by Dalton police of making an illegal turn at a red light after an officer confused her with another driver”.
That does not mean she “should have never been stopped”, though. In fact, she absolutely should have been stopped – and should be deported.
During the stop, authorities said the 19-year-old, who is in the country illegally, didn’t have a proper driver’s license and was taken into custody at the scene and later detained by immigration enforcement authorities.
So, call the stop serendipity, then. Because it means that someone who’d broken US laws was finally apprehended.
When the officer determined she didn’t have a license, he slapped handcuffs on her.
“So in the state of Georgia, when you drive without a license, you know what happens? You ever been to jail? Well, you’re going,” the cop said, according to footage also obtained by WTVC […]
Her father, Jose Francisco Arias-Tovar, has also been in that same federal facility ahead of possible deportation since last month after he was pulled over for allegedly speeding.
The family came to the United States illegally in 2010 from Mexico when Arias-Cristobel was just four years old, officials have said.
Well, deport the lot of them. Problem solved.
When you’re a fugitive from US law, even a mistaken traffic stop is your own bad luck.
