Federal authorities have disrupted a credible terrorist threat over the weekend, arresting four alleged members of a radical pro-Palestinian extremist group accused of plotting coordinated New Year’s Eve bombings in Los Angeles. The members are said to have self-identified as part of a radical offshoot of the Turtle Island Liberation Front (TILF), an extremist group driven by pro-Palestinian, anti-law-enforcement, and anti-government ideology.

They were allegedly preparing coordinated attacks using improvised explosive devices on New Year’s Eve, targeting five locations across Los Angeles. The four suspects were arrested in Lucerne Valley, where they were reportedly testing explosive devices in preparation for the attacks. Each has been charged with conspiracy and possession of a destructive device.

Authorities also announced that a fifth individual, believed to be linked to the same TILF group, was arrested in New Orleans in connection with plans for a separate attack. A TILF Instagram account states that its founding chapter is in Los Angeles, with the aim of freeing “Turtle Island,” an indigenous term for North America, from the “illegal American empire.”

“Free Palestine. Free Hawaii. Free Puerto Rico,” the account posted. “Freeing the world from American imperialism is the only way to a safe and peaceful future,” it continued.

Attorney General Pam Bondi announced on X that the Department of Justice, in collaboration with the FBI, thwarted the alleged plot in the Central District of California. She noted that TILF was also intending to target United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and vehicles. “This was an incredible effort by our US Attorneys’ Offices and the FBI to ensure Americans can live in peace,” Bondi wrote. “We will continue to pursue these terror groups and bring them to justice.”

Additional details from the investigation reveal that the arrested individuals – identified as Audrey Carroll (30), Zachary Page (32), Dante Gaffield (24), and Tina Lai (41) – were found with materials including signs reading “DEATH TO ICE” and “AMERICA IS FASCIST,” alongside a bomb-making setup.

The affidavit supporting the arrest warrants notes that the targets included properties and facilities of companies engaged in interstate commerce, with discussions of future pipe bomb attacks on ICE starting in January or February 2026.

FBI Director Kash Patel praised the operation, stating it was enabled in part by President Trump’s executive order combating left-wing domestic terrorism, and a press conference by the FBI’s Los Angeles field office provided further updates on the thwarted plot.
