The most astonishing thing about 2020 so far is that celebrities are still labouring under the delusion that anyone gives a toss about what they have to say. It says volumes about the Versailles level of isolated luxury of these gold-plated morons that they can be so utterly lacking in self-awareness as to think we plebs hang on their every vacuous utterance.
That platinum-level un-self-awareness makes the following pronouncement so unintentionally hilarious.
Kim Kardashian West is among several celebrities who have joined the #StopProfitForHate campaign targeted at Facebook, telling followers that she will suspend her use of Facebook and Instagram accounts on Wednesday in protest.
Wait, she’s going to shut up?
Other celebs who said they will suspend their Instagram accounts on Sept. 16 include Katy Perry, Demi Lovato, Sacha Baron Cohen, Judd Apatow, Amy Schumer, Sarah Silverman, Jamie Foxx, Mark Ruffalo and Leonardo DiCaprio.
What? No more finger-wagging lectures on climate change from the private jet crowd? No more incessant shrieking about the Bad Orange Man from overpaid pretty parrots?
The Stop Hate for Profit campaign, launched by groups including the NAACP, Common Sense Media and the Anti-Defamation League earlier this summer, was joined by hundreds of companies who pledged to suspend advertising on Facebook-owned platforms temporarily. The goal of the initiative is to spur the company to more aggressively police for and block hate speech and misinformation.
Well, if this gaggle of Cancel Culture ninnies are going to shut the hell up for us, then Facebook won’t need to block hate speech and misinformation. The blessed silence from the moron echo-chamber will be mission accomplished.
Of course, what they really mean is “silence anyone who disagrees with our far-left bullshit”.
And, sorry to get everyone’s hopes up, but it looks like this is only going to be a short 24-hours of blessed relief from the cacophony of celebrity dumb-assity.
I mean, you really didn’t think they’d shut up for good, did you? As their desperate scramble for attention during the COVID lockdowns showed, these people would shrivel up and die if they had to go more than a single day without parading their egos in front of an unwilling world.
