Don Brash talks to Peter Williams about his involvement with the Mongrel Mob Kingdom of Hamilton in setting up an Education Trust to teach gang members with poor or no literacy skills. He explains how difficult it can be for “fully grown” adults to return to primary or high school and shares the view that provision needs to be made for these men. He says these social issues have been a long time in the making and will take a long time to fix and his involvement is completely consistent with his vision for every New Zealander to be given equal opportunities.

They also discuss He Puapua and its implications for democracy in New Zealand, John Tamihere’s views on Maori health, free speech and cancel culture, and the Reserve Bank’s recent statement, “The Future is Maori”.
