Takeaways From the US Election

Dan Bongino said recently there are 1000 evil people who want to impose tyranny. Unleash the full power of US law upon these 1000 lunatics and save mankind.

The election in the US was interesting for a number of reasons. As expected, Donald Trump won fairly easily, ending up with 31 states and around 51 per cent of the popular vote but there were some intriguing things about the results. First it shows the media, like in New Zealand a year ago, have little or no influence upon public opinion any longer; nobody is watching or reading and simply don’t care what fake news peddlers have to say.

The second thing was the substantial inroads Republicans made into Democrat areas and the crumbling of the supposed ‘coalition’ comprising the Democratic party. The Italian-Americans, in particular, seem to have mainlined Donald Trump and Republicans, which accounts for the landslide win on Staten Island in New York and the strong results in New Jersey, Rhode Island and Connecticut.

The third takeaway – and the only particularly surprising thing about the election – was Trump and Republican support in several large cities. Miami once again showed a Republican landslide, but the other (often overlooked) city in Florida is Tampa. Trump won, not only Tampa (what is known as Hillsborough County), but also the entire Tampa metro area by a wide margin.

Other cities that showed a substantial swing to Trump and the Republicans include Houston, Detroit, Philadelphia metro areas and also (to my astonishment) Los Angeles – where I, myself, am registered to vote. When all the votes in Los Angeles county are counted Trump and the Republicans will have the highest ever: way more than Nixon and Reagan received back in the day. So much for the Democrats considering LA a liberal pet where everyone automatically supports them!

My final takeaway was watching Harris give her concession speech yesterday. What struck me is how she didn’t appear particularly disappointed or surprised. She was what I have long described her as being – the ‘designated loser’ for the 2024 election – the placeholder who allows the Democrat heavyweights a clear field in 2028. This is a woman who has obtained advancement in her career not on merit but by ‘unorthodox’ means (shall we say) time and again over the last 35 years and probably knows she’s a monstrous fraud.

Getting rumbled isn’t unusual for her and so last night she probably shrugged her shoulders and will simply move onto the next job she’s unqualified for. When you don’t believe in anything, don’t stand for anything, don’t really understand any issues and don’t particularly care, why would you be disappointed when you lose?

So what of the future? My hope is that this time Donald Trump realises his big – and only – mistake in 2017 was appointing the wrong man as Attorney-General. If he appoints a pitbull, and that Attorney-General appoints a team of other pitbulls, they really can “drain the swamp” and indict a long list of very guilty people who think they are above the law and send them to prison. He can also launch anti-trust lawsuits against various companies (BlackRock, for example) who think they, too, can do whatever they want without consequences.

A few weeks ago I saw Dan Bongino sum things up well. He said there are one thousand evil people who want to impose tyranny. Unleash the full power of US law upon these 1000 lunatics and save mankind.
