In the classic movie The Usual Suspects there is the line “The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was to convince the world he didn’t exist“. A variation on that theme was after the collapse of communism in Russia and Europe; most freedom lovers thought, “Oh that’s that then; we won”, unaware that the commies simply went away to do a Tony Blair and come up with “New Communism”: more evil and demented than the first time around.

Here in New Zealand, there was a further variation on this theme. At 7:01pm on election night 2008 large numbers of freedom warriors who had spent several years bringing down the wicked Clark government felt that because we’d won, the government was changed, it was time to put the cue back in the rack and get on with life. It was utterly foolish: as 2022 has shown, we are half an inch away from losing the country forever.

The wicked, evil socialist lunatics didn’t simply give up because they lost in 2008, they set about planning a comeback to punish the NZ population for throwing them out of government. Curiously, the actual Labour Members of Parliament spent nine years in opposition doing absolutely no planning for government whatsoever, but the party and the socialist movement at large most certainly did so. And ‘we’ let them; if the country does end up being lost it is we who are responsible, we who threw it all away.

A good example of what I mean was an interview with Jim Bolger last week. He said (words to the effect that) Jacinda Ardern won’t define what “co-governance” actually means; an easy enough thing to do. Therefore the definition, the endgame, if stated out loud would scare the horses too much, which in turn, logically, must mean the true intention of co-governance is a small group of unelected Maori elitists taking control of everything in the country and subjugating the majority of the population.

And folks, we let them do it. We stood back because there was beer in the fridge, sport on television, and your card worked at the EFTPOS whenever you wanted to use it. Oh and the Maori elites who will be subjugating you are all of the ignorant, violent, belligerent, loud-mouthed, parasitical variety – Willie Jackson – not people like Sir Howard Morrison, Dame Kiri, Nuk Korako, or the easygoing chaps in the shearing gang or those doing the road works.

7:01pm on election night 2023 is when the battle commences; that’s the time freedom lovers need to raise 4 or 5 million dollars and run a constant campaign targeting the Labour party. Reminding the public what a Labour Government actually means; keeping the horrors of the last couple of years fresh in everyone’s mind during 2024/25/26/27….35/36/37; never let up making Labour the issue.

This is what Sir Keith did throughout the 1960s when he constantly reminded folk about the “Black Budget” raising taxes on their beer and cigarettes, and what Margaret Thatcher did in the UK during the 1980s. Not only should we never let up but we should never think the horrors of 2022 are “too far in the past” to keep reminding people about them. I know it sounds a bit odd, but in 2040 we should still be talking about the events of this year – or Kiwibuild and Ihumatao in 2019 – whenever we can.
