Today’s comment was written by George Thank you George for taking the time to craft such an interesting comment.
When Wayne Brown became Mayor of Auckland last year, it ended the Labour-endorsed Mayoral stranglehold Aucklanders have had to endure since 2007 when Barry Curtis called it quits. Wayne Brown won in a landside which clearly was a public backlash aimed at the Labour’s political dominance, both in local and National politics. Typically the MSM and Labour used the racism card to explain why their Faanana Collins failed to succeed.
It is also interesting to note that Wayne Brown once served as a director on the TVNZ and Maori Television boards. This may explain why the MSM have it in for him. Or it could be that he said near the end of his campaign, on camera, that if successful he wanted to glue pictures of a certain journalist on urinals so people could “pee on him”. That comment alone would have been a vote catcher.
However Labour, never one to release control, decided that Auckland needed a Labour Party Minister to oversee its welfare. Thus the appointment of the “river of filth” orator Michael Wood who also conveniently has his wife as a current Auckland Council member . The same Michael Wood who singlehandedly squandered billions of dollars of taxpayers money on failed fanciful projects like light rail and the cycleway over the harbour.
When asked if he trusts Wayne Brown will handle Cyclone Gabrielle appropriately he said “yes, with the help of others working on the response” (him of course). He couldn’t help himself by continuing with this comment, “But we as Government ministers have worked hard over the past week or two to bring real clarity and focus to make sure our expectations are clear and to offer all the support we can to make sure those local responses are adequate and the communication is clear”. When reading between the lines this is, of course, political trash talk suggesting “Brown isn’t up to it”.
I suspect right now Wayne Brown would also want to glue pictures of a certain politician on urinals so people could “pee on him”.
