Arhh, Yeah, Gidday! – Greetings!
Tin of Cocoa, Tin of Cocoa, Bag of Bananas, and arhhh a packet-a-Kumeras, mate ! (yeah, just at the shops, at the moment, getting some supplies), but, anyway …welcome!
Welcome to this, arhhh, first annual holiday weekend to celebrate Mutt-a-Reeky ! Yes, that’s rights folks, it’s a time to pay tribute to the humble NEW ZEALAND sheep and cattle dogs. They are often overlooked by your average townie, but to us arhhh, “rural dwellers”. they are very much a part of the “productive team” of 5 Million.
They are an essential working member of the family, just like the trustee ute and quad-bike, and arhhh, just like the vehicles, they often end up covered in farmyard muck, and …struth! …can they reek ! Hence the err, terminology “Mutt-a-Reeky”
So it’s at this special time of the year, that, arhhh especially with the cold, they can come inside the Farmhouse for a well-deserved bath and shampoo, and a night by the fire, looking out the ranch-slider at those very familiar stars in the sky.
So arhhh, yeah, basically, just a reminder to the Nation this weekend, as you eat your Sunday roast, to remember where it came from and the humble farm dog.
