Instead of spending his 80th birthday trackside at the races in Sydney, Bob Brown celebrated the milestone at home in Nelson with a bunch of birthday cheer from his neighbours.
Residents in the quiet Enner Glynn cul-de-sac where he lives decided to decorate their letterboxes with balloons and sing happy birthday to him from their respective bubbles in the street on Saturday morning.
A poster on most of the letterboxes in the street with his picture read; “Happy Birthday Bob at No.12.”
“He’s just a bloody good guy,” said neighbour Mike Gane who helped to organise the surprise.
