When do the polls close in battleground states on Election Day?
The winner of the election will come down to seven states: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
Arizona: Polls close at 9pm Eastern Standard time on November 5 (ET) – which is 3pm November 6 NZT. Arizona doesn’t announce its tallies until all precincts have reported or one hour after all polls are closed, whichever is first.
Georgia: Polls close at 7pm ET – 1pm November 6 NZT.
Michigan: The state covers two time zones, but polls in most of the state close at 8pm ET – 2pm NZT, with the rest at 9pm ET – 3pm NZT.
Nevada: Polls close at 10pm ET – 4pm NZT. The state doesn’t release results until the last vote has been cast.
North Carolina: Polls close at 7:30pm ET – 1.30pm NZT.
Pennsylvania: Polls close at 8pm ET – 2pm NZT.
Wisconsin: Polls close at 9pm ET – 3pm NZT.
