The Indoctrination Must Stop but Labour Would Double Down

This is institutional indoctrination masquerading as higher learning. It is education weaponised to instil collective guilt and enforce a singular political worldview.

The University of Canterbury’s 2026 ‘Social Studies’ bridging curriculum is a glaring example of how university lecturers and given free rein to engage in uncompromising and aggressive ideological brainwashing. This practice seems to now be standard in New Zealand’s tertiary education.

As John Raine notes, today’s lecture room has degraded into a space for fixed-view discourses, arguments that are completely lacking a validated foundation. All endorsed by a university hierarchy openly intent on destroying the foundations objective learning.

When subjective belief trumps established truths, genuine critical thinking completely leaves the room.

Instead of equipping law-bound students with objective analysis, this course forces compliance with radical social justice doctrines. It is an environment where students are instructed that even basic, logical counter-arguments – such as stating ‘not all white people are racist’ – are dismissed as just another form of ‘white supremacy’. How can you counter such powerful and invasive indoctrination?

This is institutional indoctrination masquerading as higher learning. It is education weaponised to instil collective guilt and enforce a singular political worldview. This systematic indoctrination is reshaping how young minds view accountability and race.

Even more damning is the total inertia from government regulators, who continuously look the other way as universities abandon academic excellence for political activism.

Surely the government must intervene and halt this state-funded ideological capture before independent, objective thought is erased entirely from our campuses?

Have a read of John Raine’s excellent Substack post and see if you agree with me.

Not Free to Criticise at Massey Uni?

It should be deeply embarrassing for Massey to be obliged to convene a panel to consider whether the articles written by three senior academics “reflect its values”. Schwerdtfeger – an academic heavyweight with an international reputation – will have to prepare a defence.
