Misogyny: it’s the dirty little secret of the “rainbow” brigade. The gross misogyny so prevalent in gay culture is venerable and well-documented. Even “LGBT” activists like Rose McGowan admit it. So does progressive paper of record, The Guardian. “It is undeniable that there is a virulent strain of misogyny in mainstream gay male culture,” says feminist Jo Bartosch.
Drag queens are the fetish icons of the “rainbow” movement — and they’re virulently misogynist. Drag queens are gross caricatures of women, every bit as much as black-and-white minstrels are of black people. They adopt crude, sexualised noms-de-drag that openly degrade women. Drag queens who actually look like women, as opposed to demented fetish circus clowns, are sneered at as “fishy” — an insulting reference to women’s genitalia.
It’s in this context that the ongoing feud between feminist Suzanne Moore and Guardian star columnist Owen Jones needs to be understood. What might otherwise be dismissed as a catfight between two luvvy journalists is really a symptom of a far deeper collision of gender politics.
The background to all this is that Moore, after 25 years at leftist bible The Guardian, recently quit the paper after being subject to an unrelenting campaign from her colleagues, over her support for women under attack by tranny activists.
Do I think Owen was responsible for getting my “colleagues” to gang up and write a letter denouncing me? I can’t say. I certainly think he was responsible for creating the toxic atmosphere in which it happened. But he denies it and claims the letter was never about me, even though it was leaked to his mate Patrick Strudwick at Buzzfeed, who strangely seemed to think it was.
No need to go into all that again. I wrote at length about it here without once mentioning the twerp’s name. But suffice it to say that in 30 years of journalism, no one has spoken to me the way he did. Of course, anyone on Twitter will be aware he does this on a regular basis to women. That is why #OwenJonesIsAMisogynist started to trend this week, after Private Eye reported that an independent investigator brought in by the Guardian had upheld a complaint of bullying made against him by a female columnist, and that he is yet to face punishment.
When I read the Private Eye piece, I wasn’t surprised: over the years, so many women have complained and nothing has ever been done.
The Guardian’s only response was a disingenuous piece of legalese which claimed that nobody was “found guilty of bullying”: apparently “offended, intimidated and insulted” aren’t bullying. The more you know.
As Moore says, the Guardian’s excusing of a misogynist homosexual bully shows where their real priorities lies. In the game of intersectional victim poker, the women are trumped by the queers and the trannies.
But after the Wi Spa incident — in which the paper’s reporters defended a sex offender in the name of trans rights and ordinary women were trashed as transphobic liars — perhaps we should have known.
Owen Jones is just the “rainbow” left writ small and annoying.
His support for trans rights never extends to answering any difficult questions: What is gender identity? What do we do about the huge spike in distressed teenage girls wanting to transition? Are women no longer allowed to organise as a sex class? What do we do globally about rape as a war crime? Or FGM? Or sex selection? Women’s actual issues don’t interest him. Instead, he trolls women MPs and stands up for anti-Semites, again another proxy war.
