The Insurrection Act. “Whenever the president considers that unlawful obstructions, combinations, or assemblages, or rebellion against the authority of the United States, make it impracticable to enforce the laws of the United States in any State by the ordinary course of judicial proceedings, he may call into Federal service such of the militia of any state, and use such of the armed forces, as he considers necessary to enforce those laws or to suppress the rebellion.”

Antifa in Portland
So if the spark of insurrection is not to be Chicago (my bet is still on them), then how about Portland, Oregon? It’s the US city with the greatest Antifa influence and in which Federal buildings and officers have been under attack for years, peaking in 2020 but increasing again now. But they’re not Antifa’s only targets, with journalists being attacked if they dare photograph, film or in any way follow Antifa.
Far worse is the degree to which the authorities and Antifa appear to be joined in Portland:
[Portland Police Sergeant Andrew Braun (badge #56961)] Braun claims that journalist @KatieDaviscourt, citizen journalist @hunnybadgermom and conservative activist @RheinDAmacher are somehow responsible for being attacked by “protesters.” He falsely labels Daviscourt and Chelly Boufferache as “counter-protesters” and accuses them of trespassing on federal property. In reality, these journalists stay near or on federal property because when they’re on public streets in Portland, the Portland Police will not bother to investigate if they are assaulted or robbed.
Sgt Braun is essentially parroting Antifa talking points, which justify violence against those they deem unwelcome in public areas they lay claim to. Antifa regularly argues that anyone they label as an “antagonizer” (i.e., press) is fair game for violent retaliation. This leadership mindset or policy helps explain why Portland Police have systematically failed to protect conservatives from being beaten or robbed by Antifa and the violent far-left over the years.
The email from Braun is at the link.
The living, breathing definition of anarcho-tyranny.
Needless to say the two woman named in that email are pissed off and coming after the Portland police on civil rights, and they’ll likely have the Federal Department of Justice.

- Katie Daviscourt: (almost lost an eye after being hit by an Antifa)
I am going to go to war with @PortlandPolice! The agency submitted testimony that says I am a counter protester who intentionally agitates Antifa to get assaulted. I am beyond pissed. Anyone who knows me, knows that I stand by myself, I am non violent, never approach the crowd, and quietly film. I just want to do my job. It’s GAME ON! - CK Bouferrache: (attacked by two female Antifa who got her on the ground and then repeatedly kicked her in the head. )
First, I’m a journalist. ... I’ve been published plenty and paid my dues. Second, I’m beyond disgusted by this email. It’s not true. It does not represent the way that I work. I’m quiet and stand off to the side and only engage when people want to engage with me. There’s more I have to say, but I have to get to work.
An MSM journalist, David Marcus of Fox News, described his Antifa encounter at the same event, as he rescued a frightened motorist from their intimidation, and what the Portland cops did:
It was clear the three police officers standing by were going to do nothing despite her car being repeatedly kicked, so I made my way through to her, tapped her on the shoulder and said, “You should probably go.”
…
As I crossed the street, one of the cops — hand to God — said to me, “What happened there?” I was gobsmacked. I said, “They wouldn’t let her leave, so I helped her get out.” He replied, “Good.”
…
Amazingly, instead of the police taking any immediate action, Daviscourt was told to walk almost a half-mile away to meet two officers and make her complaint. When we arrived, police told us that “higher-ups” had told them not to engage “so we don’t become a flashpoint.” It was an abject surrender of the streets.
Given the comments of Police Sergeant Andrew Braun above I wouldn’t call it “surrender”. The Portland Police are enabling Antifa’s takeover of the streets.
And it clearly goes beyond the “higher ups” of the police: it includes the Democrats of Portland:
Claiming the city is “not a war zone” and that they are “fully capable of managing our own community,” mayors from around the Portland metro area banded together on Monday afternoon [Sep 29] to demand that President Donald Trump not send National Guard troops to back up Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents near downtown Portland. ... Underlying the entire premise of the news conference was the libel that somehow sending the feds into Portland in 2020 to stop their pet protesters from burning up the federal courthouse and other buildings caused the riots that were already underway.
This in the face of Antifa news easily found on the web:
Another journalist, Victoria Taft, decided to investigate the area, “bloc’d up” (dressed all in black like Antifa), where the city officials had said that only one block was subject to “protest” activity. No guesses that she discovered they’re either ignorant or lying:
Since Antifa marches to their daily activities from their assembly spot at a nearby park, that makes at least four blocks they have taken over. And then there’s the ICE facility itself. It is a fortress, but easily surrounded. Antifa has taken positions in front of it, across the street from it, and down the block. This makes the zone at least a five-block takeover at times.
– There is no limit to the number of blocks Antifa can control. There is no pushback from local police. PPB is not there to protect ICE agents, and it won’t do it.
– The area is not under control and secure because the city likes chaos more than order, because it redounds to their political benefit.
– They won’t clean up the riot zone and Antifa’s area of operation because Antifa is their base.
No wonder Antifa attack journalists and Taft provides a list:
They targeted Dan Sandini in 2010; Mike Strickland in 2016; the innocents that a knife-wielding crazy man on board the Max light rail train injured or killed, triggered by an Antifa “de-escalator” in 2017; Black Rebel Andrew Duncomb in 2019; Andy Ngo, whom they assaulted in 2019 and again in 2021; HunnyBadgerMom in 2025; Katie Daviscourt, also in 2025; Nick Sortor this year, too; and on it will go.
Here’s Antifa’s latest hit list – and I don’t mean a list of their faves (“You want to be Charlie Kirk 2? You want to say hi to your boy? He’s waiting for you bitch.”)
Recently journalists such as these were invited to the White House where they testified to the reality that is Antifa, something that shouldn’t need to be done, given all the open violence they’ve pulled over the years, but necessary in the face of the Democrat Party’s desperate efforts to openly deny, “Antifa is just an idea”.

The Democrat Party’s Role
This has been coming for a long time, as the Democrat Party caves ever more to its fringe, far-left wing, complete with the usual far-left effort to make people not believe what they see and hear, starting with Keith Ellison, the Attorney General of Minnesota (who I’ve covered a number of times here at NM).
Their politicians aren’t even hiding it, as the following butt ugly swamp sow reveals:
She’s basically calling out the Democrat Party’s military wing, Antifa, who are producing stuff like this:

As Andy Ngo writes, Portland Dems and Antifa Have ‘Symbiotic Relationship’:
Portland ICE Director Cammila Wamsley saying that when a crime occurs on the street, like assault, “it takes Portland police a while to respond, or sometimes they don’t respond at all. Frustrating. It is frustrating. It’s frustrating for us to watch people be attacked on the street and know that we don’t have the authority to be able to really step in unless there’s some nexus to federal law.”
Fox anchor Trace Gallagher asked, “It’s unusual, Andy, is it not, to see where state and federal law enforcement are virtually on separate teams?”
Ngo, who was almost killed by Antifa in Portland in 2020 and yet found himself maltreated by authorities too, answered, “Well, in Portland, where I’m originally from, the Democrats and Antifa have a symbiotic relationship. They both benefit when their political opposition, their shared enemies, conservatives, those who are supportive of President Trump, are silenced, either through violence or intimidation.”
How close? This close (plus a list of Oregon Dems pushing the “no violence or lawlessness” in Portland narrative):
And this close:
Ngo emphasized that Morillo is not an exception. “The political violence and dysfunction in Portland can be explained in part by the political leadership of individuals like that woman you just showed and others who were in power five years ago during the BLM Antifa riots in Portland that turned deadly, they act literally as co-conspirators for their comrades to engage in violent criminal conspiracies”
…
Many Oregon Democrats find it useful that Antifa intimidate, beat and kill their political opponents. Conservative events being shut down with violence benefits Democrats because then Republicans can’t engage in the democratic process.
The MSM is carrying their water on this of course.
