economic tide goes out

It’s pretty daunting to be entering another beautiful New Zealand summer with star-jasmine richly perfuming the sultry air and Pohutukawa blooms beginning to rejoice in the approaching Christmas season knowing that within the corridors of national and global power our way of life is being seriously plotted out of existence.

It would be more tolerable for those of us who love liberty culture if the average New Zealander could see clearly what is lying in wait for us at the hands of our politicians, institutions, central banks and tech providers, but it’s clear that even after everything we’ve been through in the last three years, they cannot, or will not, pay attention to what’s happened around us in a way that a free nation requires in order to remain free.

The very word “freedom” seems to have lost its shine to the masses.

I could go into the many reasons for this feeble apathy in the populations of liberal democracies. One hundred years of cultural Marxism – Antonio Gramsci’s “long march through the institutions” resulting in educated populations with mush for brains and urges instead of ethics – would probably hit the nail on the head, if reasons were properly elaborated upon, but the “hows” of this cultural decline are outside the scope of this writing for now. Suffice it to say that we happen to be living amongst multiple generations of people who have never had to fight for anything much besides a higher standard of living than their parents (that is at times testing enough), but certainly have never had to fight actual threats to their very way of life, before this moment.

A ‘way of life’ is a deeply philosophical concept, but one that means absolutely nothing without reference points firmly observed in practical reality. It can be noted and be measured, therefore judged accurately, and by every measure today our way of life is in grave jeopardy compared with what we’ve been accustomed to.

Our ability to ride on the coattails of the G.I Generation’s great personal sacrifice to smash fascism and declare victory over it, has ended. Every generation since theirs is more anaemic: the Silent Generation, Baby Boomers, Generation X, Millennials, Generation Z and Generation Y, the last three being the acme generations of cultural Marxism’s fruits, whom you often encounter making propositions as absurd as “men can become pregnant and chest-feed”; the infantile guardians of safe-spaces (try explaining that colloquialism to a World War II veteran: “What, you mean fox-holes?”).

The abuses directed at our way of life are legion. Bad actors will act:

Man-made viruses, Chinese-style lockdowns, small business closures, untested genetic medical injections in exchange for candy floss and ice creams for the young, or upon the pain of losing one’s livelihood if refused by the grownups. Increased all-cause mortality across all generations, energy shortages for the Northern Hemisphere heading into winter, food price increases and threatened food shortages, bloated interest rates, stagflation, chronic hospital and healthcare failures, brazenly stolen elections, political and financial war upon our farmers: our civilisation is being demolished. Our way of life is being sabotaged through political Blitzkrieg. How can anyone with a pulse not see it? Many people who do see it keep stubbornly calling it mere “incompetence” on the part of our leaders, a way to keep staving off their rage, I think.

These are the times that try men’s souls and we are clearly living through an existential crisis worse than 18th-century England’s abuses of the American colonies that Thomas Paine wrote fiery pamphlets about before and during the Revolution.  What’s happening to us is much darker since it’s being done under oleaginous cover thicker than an oil slick – and Tom Paine never had to consider the evil notion of governments tampering with something as fundamentally sacred as the human genome.

As we head into Christmas and our well-earned holiday breaks, we need to be mindful that what we’re up against is man-made corruption and intentional evil that can be man-unmade and overturned by an organised, persistent, intransigent integrity to human flourishing and liberty.  But it’s clear that we have to keep making the case to our fellow citizens who are numbed up either through militant ignorance, which is a personal choice (they too live in the Information Age with many arguments from all sides at their finger-tips should they care to conduct searches outside of the censored mainstream), or through being overwhelmed by just the effort it takes to make a living for their families in times that are tough, and only going to get tougher.

Eventually, as Reality asserts itself like the force of nature it actually is, committed movements on the right side of human goodness hit a critical mass where even the hive-minded will nod along rather than resist because their mental laziness demands of them torpid obedience.

For those in the political parties – all of which overtly failed us in February when we gathered in Wellington for our democratic right to petition for a redress of grievances that was 100% denied us – could someone from within National Party ranks please step forward to issue a challenge to the feckless, spineless, woke Luxon? It really can’t be that difficult and you’d be surprised at how many ordinary New Zealanders would be delighted at a National Party leader who once again speaks the language of liberty against tyranny – and bloody well means it! (Nobody springs to mind.)

That this even needs to be asked for is a sign of how lamentable this country’s opposition leadership has become, but that’s yesterday’s news.

I feel no intimidation by the threat of being called a ‘conspiracy theorist’ in a country that wants to tax farmers on cow farts in the name of the biggest conspiracy theory of them all – man-made climate change. What a joke. It’s like being called names by the retarded kid in the playground and I’m not in the business of caring about what retarded people think about anything. They’re retarded, limited by nature itself.  But when retarded people become leaders of a once free nation, it’s not surprising that they seek to turn that nation into something resembling a lunatic asylum, and that’s a sick status quo that no intelligent person can tolerate for any length of time whilst keeping their lives, fortunes and sacred honour intact.
