Since 2021, New Zealand Doctors Speaking Out with Science (NZDSOS) has raised concerns about the government’s C-19 response, advocating for medical freedom, the restoration of core medical ethics and informed consent. Central to this work has been the need to acknowledge and give voice and help to individuals who report harm following C-19 vaccination, many of whom describe being dismissed by medical professionals, unsupported by the health system, tangled by impenetrable red tape by ACC and effectively abandoned following their reported adverse reactions.
Within this context, we wish to highlight a newly released independent New Zealand project that documents the post-vaccination experiences of some everyday Kiwis with accounts that contradict the government’s messaging that the C-19 vaccine was uniformly ‘safe and effective’.
The Tribute is a new confessional-style web series directed by New Zealand filmmaker Gaylene Barnes, from the award-winning River of Freedom documentary team. The series documents the personal accounts of New Zealanders who report significant health impacts following C-19 vaccination – perspectives that have received limited attention in mainstream media and public health messaging.
About the Series:
The Tribute presents first-hand accounts from individuals and families describing adverse health outcomes they associate with Covid-19 vaccination. Bi-weekly episodes, in short (three to five minute) and long (20–30 minute) formats, are scheduled for release on YouTube and Spotify starting mid-January 2026.
The project is independently produced and supported through public contributions, enabling the continued documentation of these important testimonies.
Why this Series Matters:
NZDSOS has consistently maintained that patient testimony has a legitimate place in medicine and public health, particularly when reported harms are not being adequately recorded, acknowledged or investigated. Listening to those affected is a necessary step in understanding the full impact of any medical intervention.
One anecdote may be a coincidence but hundreds or thousands of similar anecdotes need attention and investigation.
NZDSOS supports initiatives that give voice to those reporting vaccine injury and encourages open, respectful discussion around informed consent and post-marketing surveillance. By sharing personal testimonies, The Tribute gets these important experiences into the public eye, making sure they are seen, heard and not forgotten, while increasing awareness of these critical issues.
