Oh yeah? they say. We will carry on.
There are thousands, perhaps millions of TikTok and online video content of Gen Z testimonies of how Charlie Kirk of Turning Point inspired them to change their lives. Globally many are deeply affected and mourning the passing of this unique man, husband and father.
Emotions are still very raw and people are angry. This good man was loved by people across the globe. Goodness and genuine kindness are hated by the left, so a critic full of hate shot him in the neck.
He listened to college Gen Z’ers with patience and had genuine care for them. He didn’t blame them for having their heads and lives messed up or for believing woke nonsense and confusing messaging. They have heard this since they were tiny. He had an enormous passion and vision for the future of this age group.
He said to his five million followers on X, “...we must deliver.” He stated he wanted to see a shift in Gen Z thinking as massive as:
‘a generational alignment’ (14 July 24) or
‘a political and generational earthquake’ (23 March 25)
He considered himself ‘called’ by God to be one of the drivers of this change.
Kirk’s foremost message of importance was his Christian faith in Jesus Christ. He spoke of obeying biblical scriptures and listening to your conscience to know right from wrong. He also championed family life and open debate, economic opportunity and what is described as American exceptionalism. His messages saw a huge move away from progressive ideologies toward traditional conservative values. He also supported Trump.
Steve Bannon says the shift was already significant, with people like Kirk and Musk alongside Trump running an election that appealed particularly to young men. Trump by being anti-woke, having a brash persona and being interviewed by podcaster Joe Rogan helped to change the vote.
An 11-point increase in the Gen Z vote from Trump’s first election in 2016 to 2024 was a big swing towards conservatism.
Alex Rosado, a Gen Z political, cultural and consumer freedom writer for Young Voices, writes in his personal capacity one day after Kirk was fatally shot:
Kirk’s ideals are beginning to bear fruit. Generation Z is starting to attend church at record rates (Christianity Today article by Daniel Sillman) and giving up alcohol (Time Magazine), and young conservative men rank marriage and having children as top priorities. These shifts signify that my generation no longer wants to be adrift – they yearn for mutual health, faith, prosperity, and the ability to connect. It is heartbreaking knowing Charlie Kirk can no longer assist in this national renewal. For his and America’s sake, my generation must pick up the mantle and carry on his legacy.
What Charlie Kirk Meant to My Generation. 11 September 25
It is early days without Charlie Kirk, but there is a noticeable dramatic outpouring of students’ grief. The five million followers are watching promises of others who say they will follow in Kirk’s footsteps and sharing their stories of moving from liberal views towards conservatism. This is recorded in large scale gatherings, rallies and events. They declare they are committed to following Charlie Kirk’s beliefs.
Changes in sociologists and futurists’ graphs and statistics will be significant in many areas. The next 10 years ought to be telling, as Charlie Kirk’s Gen Z’s ‘generational alignment’ really kicks in. There will be:
