As it’s the end of the year I’d thought I’d do a ‘thoughts of the year’ post – a list of things and events that were important to me. So, in no particular order:
The Murder of Charlie Kirk
Here, it’s not so much his murder, which was a tragedy, but the reaction of his detractors: from outright mocking to lying and taking what he said out context. I really have no words for the staggering level of vitriol, although I’m not sure if even vitriol is the right word.
To play devil’s advocate here, I think we need to ask ourselves would we react the same if say Greta Thunberg or even Jacinda Ardern were murdered in the same way. To be honest, I’d think there would be people who would say ‘Finally, the doom goblin is gone,’ and ‘I feel sorry people living in hell.” But I think there is no way we would see their deaths celebrated even close to same level of callousness and fervour as the murder of Charlie Kirk was.
The Rise and Rise of Artificial Intelligence
AI is not going away. There is no AI bubble. And it is undeniably destroying jobs and, in some cases, whole career paths. But, at the same time, it’s creating new jobs and new opportunities. It’s just getting better and better. And we’re only getting started, with agentic AI being the next stage.
Elon is right. AI is the future. It will usher in shorter working weeks for the same pay. More leisure time etc. In fact it could even make UBI a reality.
The End of Transgenderism
The end of transgenderism I think can be described by a meme that ends with, ‘I listened to the transgenders and that’s why I became a TERF.’ Transgenderism has now gotten to the point where it consists of mostly pseudo-scientific posts about how women cannot be described by their chromosomes because a miniscule number of people have abnormal chromosomes.
The Return of Anti-Semitism
Return is not quite the right word. It’s more the fact that those who are anti-Semitic have become emboldened to be open about it. For this, a large part of blame can be put on the mainstream media who, themselves, to a large extent, are anti-Semitic.
The good news is I believe that the recent horrific murder of Jews celebrating Hanukkah will prove to be a turning point. That is there will be a many people looking inward with deep introspection and asking themselves very hard questions.
The Greens and Chlöe Swarbrick
I openly admit to once being a fan of Chlöe. I once saw her as being sharp and intelligent. Now I see her as erratic and batshit insane. I also think the Greens showed their true colours when they openly mocked Judaism by putting on keffiyehs and donning ‘watermelon’ kippas.
The Jevon McSkimming Saga
This is, of course, one of the big local news items of the year. It’d probably come as no surprise to anyone that the police force are filled with sociopaths, perhaps even more so than even the IT industry (money and or the opportunity to laud it over others tends to attract those types.) It’s also not uncommon for police officers to cheat on their wives.
Oh and, at the end of the day, nothing is going to change. Sorry.
The Death of the Mainstream Media
The mainstream media is now obsolete. It’s dead and buried. Alt-media is running rings around it. X has become the number one source of news in the world. The cycle has become for alt-media to break an important story and then for MSM to eventually and reluctantly report on it, usually by saying, ‘Well, it’s not quite like that’ and attempting to ‘correct’ or downplay the original report.
Anyway, I’m sure there are other things, but these for me are the standouts.
By the way, here is how I used AI to help with this post:
Please help me improve this text. Under each paragraph write an improved paragraph and under that tell me why the paragraph is better than the original. Use bullet points to mark each improved paragraph.
