The latest attempt to assassinate President Trump was at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. This is ironic, because we all know the type of people who inhabit most of the media newsrooms these days – the much-despised left media. They would have made up the vast majority of the more than 2,000 guests who were present at the dinner. These are the types who would most likely have contributed, through their daily utterances, to the termination of their ‘on the White House’ dinner.
The first irony is these are the individuals who absolutely can’t stand the man; the ones who aim vitriol at him on a daily basis. They have nothing nice to say about him, his party or his policies. Secondly, when this man, their political enemy, puts on a free meal, they decide it’s an offer they can’t refuse. Seemingly completely unaware of their hypocrisy, they tuck into what is on offer. The political left live in a world of hypocrisy and their media friends share it with them. This is nothing short of shameful but, as we are well aware, the left have no shame.
Thanks to the violent actions of a would-be assassin, the left media got their just desserts and the dinner was abandoned – in fact, they never got to dessert. Here is another irony. It probably didn’t occur to them while they were hiding under their tables that maybe, just maybe, the daily rhetoric that frames their narrative could be the equivalent of an incendiary device that causes these dreadful events to happen.
The types that attempt to kill the president are individuals most likely to be part of the minority listenership that the left-wing media outlets attract. The inflammatory and completely irrational rhetoric from these so-called journalists is just the sort of language that sets these lunatics off.
The narrative the left promotes creates an atmosphere of verbal warfare that enrages people more thereby creating the mechanism through which they commit such acts of violence. Their rhetoric is not based on fact but emanates from the leftist ideology that these journalists support. This is their mistake and is why they are attracting fewer listeners. Most people believe that the world has to be governed by dealing in reality; which is what Trump does.
These journalists have now witnessed at close quarters the attempted assassination of a president. It should give them cause to think twice but I suspect their intellect will fail them. They will no doubt blame Trump and his policies for what happened. That they themselves might be a contributing factor will not occur to them. They don’t possess a worldwide view – their view goes no further than the ideology they subscribe to.
The man they so despise has generously offered to front up for them for another event and do it all again within a month. These journalists may now get a second bite at the dinner, minus, hopefully, the drama of the first one should security consider it "safe" to try again.
