Valentine’s Day Love Letter to the World – 1

This poem was a winner in a competition run by Resilienz Ltd.
“In a world striving to understand and respond to climate change, Resilienz Ltd. provides high quality information and advice to public and private organisations and individuals needing to deal with climate change issues.”

It's personal

I still love you
Do you love me too?

I bathed in your beauty, but stamped upon it as a banshee.
I powered across your cheeks to explore,
Soaking up your perfection,
Then blazed technology in front of your tree.

I’m sorry
I’ve gouged your face
Washed you in poison
Shoved foreign items under your skin

When I was a child I delighted in your creatures.
I grew up basking in your light and dreaming under your stars

I’m sorry
I’ve slaughtered your future
Broken your composure
Saturated you with my disease

I still love you
Do you love me too?
