Hugh Devereux-Mack
Council of Licensed Firearm Owners
We have been deeply troubled by the growing number of reports from our community about unfair treatment or concerning incidents involving the police, the Firearms Safety Authority, or others. Many of you have reached out via email, phone, or in person, but we recognise that too many issues have gone unaddressed, and others remain unreported due to fears of reprisal.
To address this, we are launching a new online reporting tool. This secure platform allows you to confidentially share details of any concerning events without fear of your identity being disclosed. We understand the sensitivity of these matters and are committed to protecting your privacy while raising these issues on your behalf.
By collecting and analysing these reports, COLFO can better identify systemic issues and advocate more effectively to ministers, the media, and key stakeholders, ensuring your concerns are heard loud and clear. With your consent, we may share anonymised stories to underscore the real impact of these issues on our community.
Your voice is critical to driving change. If you’ve experienced or witnessed an issue, such as licensing delays or overzealous inspections, please make use of this new resource and share your story. It only takes a few minutes, but the impact could be profound.
Together, we can hold authorities accountable and protect the rights of responsible firearm owners. As always, thank you for your trust and support in this critical work.
