What Did Her Dad Do in the Genocide?

Why Ilhan Omar’s home was raided – and what she has to hide.

Life comes at you fast: the same leftists and legacy media shills who, just a couple of years ago were piously intoning that ‘No one is above the law’, when Mar-a-Lago was raided, are now screeching like banshees because Ilhan Omar’s house in Washington has been raided. Yet, both raids were for the same purpose: to find evidence of illegal activity.

The big difference, of course, is that Omar isn’t accused of just keeping some paperwork she shouldn’t have. In fact, the Somalian socialist is accused of grave immigration fraud: everything from lying about her own age to claim citizenship, to marrying her allegedly pillow-biting brother in order to sneak him into the US before he got lynched back ’ome for being a flaming whoopsie.

Not to mention being the beneficiary of a ‘rat-line’ style operation to smuggle an alleged genocidal war-criminal beyond the reach of local justice.

It appears that the honourable congresswoman’s genealogical tree is rather more tangled than a bowl of cheap spaghetti. For years, the left-wing commentariat has treated the Minnesota firebrand with the sort of hushed, reverent awe usually reserved for medieval saints. But as investigators poke about her domestic quarters, carting off cardboard boxes with the brisk efficiency one normally associates with a bailiff visiting a bankrupt bookmaker, the scaffolding of her immaculate refugee narrative is beginning to wobble.

At the heart of this bureaucratic tangle is the elusive citizenship status of her dear old dad, Nur Omar Mohamed. One might imagine that establishing whether a parent became a naturalised American citizen would be a rather straightforward clerical matter. Not so in the wonderful world of progressive idols. According to investigative disclosures:

The documents show that a US Citizenship and Immigration Services information officer conducted a “diligent search” but found “no record” relating to Nur Omar Mohamed or other variants of his name such as Nur Said Elmi Mohamed.

This is not just a minor bureaucratic hiccup. If the patriarchal pillar of the household never bothered to acquire his papers legally, it casts a rather dark, dramatic shadow over the congresswoman’s own derivative claims to citizenship. Whispers abound that youthful ages were massaged with the dexterity of a seasoned poker player, all to squeeze through a legal loophole before the calendar struck 18.

Yet, petty paperwork fraud is merely the hors d’oeuvre. The true main course of this familial saga takes us far from the leafy suburbs of Washington, back to the sun-scorched plains of Somalia during its most sanguinary decades. The progressive PR machine would have us believe that daddy dearest was nothing more than a mild-mannered, chalk-wielding instructor of youth. History, however, possesses a rather irritating habit of keeping receipts.

Instead, much like the progenitor of another African leech, this time on the Australian taxpayer, it turns out that dear old baba was up to some pretty nasty tricks, back in the old country.

Between 1981 and 1991, the Somali military in which Colonel Nur Omar Mohamed, Ilhan Omar’s father, served as a senior officer executed a brutal and systematic campaign of genocide targeting the Isaaq people of the modern day Republic of Somaliland.

Let us pause and digest that morsel of geopolitical irony. We are speaking here of a systematic slaughter that claimed upwards of 200,000 civilian lives. We are talking about scorched-earth campaigns, aerial bombardments of fleeing families, and concentration camps operating under the charming direction of the Siad Barre dictatorship. And right there, climbing the ranks with the enthusiastic obedience of a loyal apparatchik, was Colonel Nur Omar Mohamed.

Omar expects us to swallow the absurd notion that a senior military colonel in a brutal totalitarian regime spent his decade quietly getting chalk rather than the blood of innocents on his hands, while his comrades were busy razing entire cities to dust. The notion that he was merely a harmless “teacher trainer” is the sort of brazen historical revisionism that would make Soviet Russia’s ministry of propaganda look like a paragon of transparent truth.

It is extremely likely that Colonel Nur Omar Mohamed, Ilhan Omar’s father, played a direct or enabling role in the genocide. This conclusion aligns with command responsibility in law and meets the legal standard of being demonstrably proven, both on the balance of probability under civil law, and beyond reasonable doubt under criminal law. The idea that a colonel in Somalia’s military in a brutal dictatorship did not participate in the pervasive and ubiquitous genocidal activities his military was carry out in every city, town and village in the decade in which he was serving in and leading the military, is implausible, illogical and does not stand up to scrutiny.

He was clearly doggedly loyal to his genocidal overlord, too. Like a loyal Nazi hunkering down in the Berlin bunker until the Soviets were about to knock on the door, the Omar family hung on in Mogadishu until the regime was finally toppled in January 1991.

Naturally, the congresswoman herself remains as mute as a stone pillar when it comes to her father’s extensive CV of state-sponsored butchery. She shrieks to the heavens about supposed injustices across the globe, weeping crocodile tears for every fashionable progressive cause under the sun, yet she maintains a deafening, conspiratorial silence regarding the industrial-scale atrocities committed by her own flesh and blood. It’s as if the Mengele kinder got themselves elected to Argentina’s parliament on a human rights ticket, while claiming their Papa was just a rural veterinarian.

Ilhan Omar presents herself as a champion of justice, minority rights, accountability, and anti-imperialism. Her refusal to recognise or condemn the genocide her father’s military executed is irreconcilable with this public brand.

If the recent federal raid on her homestead achieves nothing else, perhaps it will finally compel the congresswoman to step out from behind her cloud of sanctimony and answer for the rather gruesome skeletons rattling around in her family closet.

That should happen sometime after Nyadol Nyuon makes good on her oft-repeated promise to bugger off from Australia, once and for all.

The calculation is how many votes might be gained. Under MMP, a party can outrage most of the country but win an electorate or secure five per cent of the party vote. The gangs can make Te Pāti Māori and the Greens the kingmakers. Do the maths.
