What Is It With the Left?

The moral is to never let the left near the levers of power, or disaster will surely follow.

When the left hold power, there only disaster, born out of ideology and ignorance. They don’t have a rational understanding of economics or wealth growing and their ideology has more holes in it than a watering can rose so the population gets hit with floods of legislation that only hinder and damage growth. This is apparent currently in the United Kingdom and in many American States.

The left deserted the workers’ base years ago in preference to the ‘chardonnay socialists’ perched in the ivory towers of academia. Charlie Kirk was involved in educating students against misjudged rhetoric but he became too successful. His assassination backfired spectacularly: American universities have since had 150,000 applications to establish chapters of Turning Point America on campuses.

Where the left’s ideology does the most harm is on the economic front. This is in part due to focusing on the ‘politics of envy’, which punishes those who work hard. While this is frowned upon on one hand, it’s taken advantage of on the other – hence the left’s obsession with tax, especially when it comes to the wealthy. ‘We can spend it better than you.’ Hence welfare budgets always blow out under a left-wing government. They would have us believe this is about helping the poor and the needy and, to some extent it is, but the budget would be greatly reduced if the able bodied were made to work.

Over just over six months UK Chancellor, Rachel (from Accounts) Reeves, has clobbered pensioners, businesses, farmers, pubs and the wealthy. She has been forced to make many U-turns but, super-glued to leftist ideology, she continues.

UK Labour said during their campaign there would be no new taxes but Reeves invented a $22-billion black hole as an excuse to impose them. When officials advised her the hole was non-existent, she then proceeded to create one of her own – considerably larger than the putative one.

Energy Minister Ed Miliband is fixated on the climate change. He, too, produced a scam: after telling everyone he would reduce their power bills by £300, they instead increased by more than that. He is also polluting the countryside with endless numbers of wind turbines. There is now a power shortage and a briefing paper from the Institute for Economic Affairs estimates the ultimate cost of his policies to be between £6.7 trillion to over £9 trillion.

The left never talk about increasing growth and the prosperity of a country through economic means. The closest the current UK Labour Government has got to this is a desire to rejoin the European Union. That would be a huge mistake: Margaret Thatcher said she was naïve to have had any involvement with it and advised any country not already in to stay out.

It is a similar story in those American states where the left has control. The most glaring examples are California and now New York under a new socialist (some say communist) mayor. There are others such as Illinois, which recently lost Boeing, and Minnesota where Governor Walz has allowed fraud to run rampant to the tune of nine billion dollars. More comes to light and he risks having to don orange-coloured attire.

In California, corporations are leaving in droves. Walmart (closed all stores), Coca-Cola, Valero Energy (oil refinery), Chevron Oil (after 145 years), Starbucks (150 stores gone), Tesla (including three billion dollars of investment lost) and Phillips 66 (a refinery operating since 1919). Casinos (214 have announced shutdowns), home insurance companies (seven of the 12 largest) and Frito-Lay (one of the world’s largest snack companies, owned by Pepsi- Cola) have shut. In-N-Out (America’s highest-earning burger chain) is leaving for Tennessee.

The tech job market in California is collapsing and the trucking industry is coming to a halt due to Governor Newsom changing rules as to how they normally operate. Independent truckers contracted to large companies have been advised to leave and this involves 70,000 trucks. Newsom also raised the minimum wage for fast food workers from $16 to $20, resulting in 18,000 job losses.

Californian companies are mainly relocating to Texas, Nevada and Florida: all Republican states, with less restrictive business environments, less red tape and less tax to pay (because there is no state income tax). It is the businesses that create growth and wealth – not governments. But, for the left, the ideology they subscribe to tells them the opposite.

That is where the left’s complete ignorance on economic matters is born. They revel in big government: they think people sitting at desks all day creating miles of red tape is the answer. What they are in fact doing is creating misery for their citizens and any business or individual trying to prosper.

In New York, the California nightmare is just beginning the administration of Zohran Mamdani. Like his London counterpart, Sadiq Kahn, this Muslim is intent on persecuting white-skinned people. His administration will own everything – the grocery stores and even your house. His aide in charge of rental accommodation wants all houses to become rentals. In her own words, “owning a house is a reflection of white supremacy.” Unfortunately for Mamdani, his dreams are already falling apart. He promised everyone free transportation but on 1 January the Metro increased bus and train fares from $2.75 to $3.00.

The left’s policies on immigration don’t work, because they’d prefer them not to. Again, they are bound by their ideology: ‘These poor people have to live somewhere.’ These ‘poor people’ are inflicting damage and harm on communities. – ‘grooming’ gangs in the UK and violence aplenty in America on ICE agents and others.

You can’t have immigration to the levels where it is to the detriment of resident population. Even worse is the favouritism handed out to the illegal immigrants, as is happening in the UK. But, let’s not forget, there are votes in pandering and kowtowing to the evil in society.

Hard headed it may be, but those on the right deal in reality. Trump has shown how it can be done. The right understands economics and we become agitated when politicians we vote for don’t appear to match our views. We know you cannot tax and spend your way to prosperity using hard-earned wealth someone else has created. The wealthy will just up and leave, as the UK and California have found out. New York is about to see the same exodus. And it’s not just the wealthy but also the middle class. These are people in the $50–$100,000 wage bracket. Mamdani has already lost $14 billion in revenue to Florida. The money is disappearing as fast as the people.

The citizens of the UK are also finding this out to their enormous personal cost. The polls are now reflecting a ‘once bitten twice shy’ mood in the country. Major business chains are closing to the detriment of the high street. It is predicted, on average, one pub will close every day in 2026 and last year 650 pharmacies closed. The hospitality sector is predicting 2,000 businesses will close this year. That’s approximately six per day.

In Australia the same scenario has occurred. One hundred thousand people have fled Melbourne for Queensland, and the One Nation party, led by Pauline Hanson, is rising in a similar manner to Nigel Farage in the United Kingdom.

The moral is to never let the left near the levers of power, or disaster will surely follow. They lose the confidence of the people, they run out of policies for the betterment of the population and then resort to personality politics. Their chances of re-election in both the UK and America are fading fast. The parties making gains in the Western Hemisphere are those promoting patriotism. That means free speech, protecting democratic rights (not being arrested for feeding pigeons in Trafalgar Square) and having pride in flying the country’s flag. Most importantly, they support one law for all. These are parties on the political right.
