“Juneteenth” is a newly-created national US holiday, supposed to celebrate the final emancipation of enslaved blacks on June 19, 1865. Imagine, though, the ghosts of those freed slaves looking on as their descendants celebrate by murdering each other en masse.
One person was killed [and] at least 28 were injured in a shooting at a Juneteenth celebration in Willowbrook, Illinois, near Chicago. Police told reporters that at least 10 of the injured were taken to local hospitals, two of whom are in critical condition, while others suffered graze wounds.
Traditional Juneteenth celebrations have apparently included public readings of the Emancipation Proclamation, singing traditional black spiritual hymns, street parties and fairs, cookouts and historical reenactments.
Including, apparently, reenactments of the United States Colored Troops at Petersburg.
Shots rang out around 12:30 am on Sunday, in DuPage County, near the intersection of Honeysuckle Rose Lane and Route 83. Officers are still grappling with the full tally of victims.
“It was supposed to be like a Juneteenth celebration; we just started hearing shooting, so we dropped down until they stopped. They just kept going. After that, we literally scattered away,” said witness Markeshia Avery, according to ABC.
Another witness said “We were all just out, and, next thing you know shots just kept going off; everybody ran, and it was chaos.”
“We just heard gunshots; at first it was one, but then it was a whole bunch of gunshots. After then we started running like, ‘yo’. I looked at my friend, and we took off, running like crazy,” another witness, Zavier Sheikh, said.

That was just the beginning of the bloodshed.
Mass shootings in communities across the US have killed at least 12 people since Friday and injured more than 100, CBS Chicago’s Charlie De Mar reported.
Almost all of them appear to be associated with Juneteenth celebrations.

Another shooting unfolded in a downtown St Louis office building where a social gathering was being held early Sunday, killing a 17-year-old and wounding 11 other teenagers, the city’s police commissioner said. St Louis Metropolitan Police Commissioner Robert Tracy identified the victim who was killed as Makao Moore. A spokesman said a minor who had a handgun was in police custody as a person of interest.
Teenagers were having a party in an office space when the shooting broke out around 1 am Sunday.
The victims ranged from 15 to 19 years old and had injuries including multiple gunshot wounds. A 17-year-old girl was trampled as she fled, seriously injuring her spine, Tracy said. Shell casings from AR-style rifles and other firearms were scattered on the ground.
In all, 19 mass shootings were reported in the US between Friday and Monday evening, according to the Gun Violence Archive.

Note how the legacy media specifically and misleadingly bleat about supposed “AR-style rifles”, trying to pander to the media narrative about US shootings. In reality, you can bet your house that nearly all the shootings involved handguns.
The media also try and dodge with such bland statements as, a motive for the attack wasn’t immediately known. In fact, you can be certain that most of them involved variations on the dreary theme of “black guy gets ‘dissed’ at party, comes back with a handgun and fires randomly into the crowd”.
Is this what the freed slaves Juneteenth is supposed to honour suffered and strived for?
