Many songs get covered or re-interpreted, the covers often being more successful than the original.

Here are some cover versions of one song along with the original, let us know in the comments which is your favourite, or if you don’t like any of them.

“I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll” is a song written by Jake Hooker and Alan Merrill and was first released by the Arrows in 1975 as the B-side to their single “Broken Down Heart”.

It has been covered by several acts including:

Joan Jett released her first version as the B-Side to her 1979 single “You Don’t Own Me”.

Joan Jett and The Blackhearts released their take as a 1981 single and 1981 album “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll”.

Ghoti Hook included on their 1988 album “Songs We Didn’t Write”.

Iron Horse on their 2007 album “The Bluegrass Tribute to Classic Rock – Edition One”

L.A. Guns included it on their 2010 album “Covered In Guns”.
