Who did it better?

Many songs get covered or re-interpreted, the covers often being more successful than the original.

Here are some cover versions of one song along with the original, let us know in the comments which is your favourite, or if you don’t like any of them.

“Niki Hoeky” is a song written by Lolly Vegas, Pat Vegas and Jim Ford. It was first released by P.J. Proby as a 1966 single.

It has been covered by several acts including:

Bobbie Gentry on her 1967 album “Ode To Billy Joe”.

Aretha Franklin on her 1968 album “Lady Soul”.

Duane Eddy as the B-Side to his 1969 single “The Satin Hours”.

Redbone on their 1970 debut album “Redbone”.
