?That?ll Be The Day? is a song written by Buddy Holly and Jerry Allison first recorded by Buddy Holly and The Three Tunes in 1956, and re-recorded by Buddy Holly and The Crickets in 1957. The 1957 release reached number 2 in the US and number 1 in the UK.

It was covered by The Quarrymen in 1958 as a demo, and re-released on ?The Beatles Anthology 1? in 1995

The Flaming Groovies released a version in 1972.

Foghat covered it in 1974.
