Who did it better?

Many songs get covered or re-interpreted, the covers often being more successful than the original.

Here are some cover versions of one song along with the original, let us know in the comments which is your favourite, or if you don’t like any of them.

“Maybelline” is a song written by Chuck Berry and released as a single in 1955.

It has been covered by many acts including:

Tommy Sands on his 1958 album “Sands Storm!”.

Johnny Rebb and His Rebels on their 1960 album “Some Swing, Some Sweet”.

Tommy Roe on his 1962 album “Shelia”.

Gerry and The Pacemakers on their 1963 album “How Do You Like It?”.

Foghat on their 1972 album “Foghat”.

Elvis Presley covered it early in his career and a version was released on the 1984 album “Elvis Presley: The First Live Recordings”.
