COVID rapid antigen test kit

Confused

Why isn’t testing enough?

I thought I was a logical person but my ability to understand what is driving decisions here in NZ has disappeared. The UK has just been through 20 months of having Covid widespread in the community. Essential workers were carrying out their tasks before the vaccination became available. I read today that 60,000 care home workers are being sacked due to the vaccine mandates. Many of these workers supported the elderly in their care homes when Covid was spreading, but to be unvaccinated is suddenly a problem – overnight?

It is now a FACT that those who are vaccinated can sadly still catch and spread Covid from another vaccinated person. This can happen without the requirement of an unvaccinated person to act as a catalyst. Vaccinated NHS workers continue to test on a weekly basis to ensure they are not taking Covid into the workplace.

It is not the unvaccinated that are unsafe. It is the virus, Covid.

If we introduced rapid antigen testing in NZ, we would lead the world in a fully free society for all, remove the requirements for vaccine mandates and certificates and all the issues that businesses and NZ citizens will have dealing with this costly technology. This would also allow, as an example, potentially 4,000 health workers to continue in their roles, standing down only if necessary. This would apply to teachers and other groups of essential workers.

The Minister of Health yesterday said that those in hospital are a mixture of unvaccinated, one dose and two-dose vaccinated. We need all the health care workers available at this critical time.

The introduction of a vaccine mandate will not achieve a reduction in Covid spread. We can see this based on the rest of the world that has already had Covid in its populations.

There is the potential for the spread with vaccine certificates to be worse, as only through testing would you know you were safe to go to a wedding, a funeral or work, and this would apply to both the vaccinated or unvaccinated. If you know you have the virus, this is when you isolate from friends, family and jobs.

This is protecting those around you.

Instead of forcing people to become unemployable next week, why not provide a logical way out of this craziness and ensure NZ does not become a nation that supports discrimination, division and poverty
