Why the Gun Register Will Fail – Part Two

Here is yet another example of why the much-vaunted gun register will fail.

You’ll remember that I wrote about why I thought the gun register was going to fail. I bought two pistols at the Ruahine Auction. I've already explained the run-around I had interacting with Te Tari Pūreke (TTP: the Firearm Safety Authority).

Well here is the follow up.

And you may sense the smell of bulldust again.

So, when you buy a restricted item at an auction you need to get a permit to possess. The police used to attend these auctions and handle the permit and transfers to your licence. It was simple and effective, and updated the National Intelligence Application (NIA system) all at the same time.

Now, the new processes are a joke.
