More investment in the South Island, an action plan for our seniors

New Zealand First made a number of significant announcements this week that we’re excited to share with you.

On Wednesday, Dunedin received a multi-million dollar cash injection from the Provincial Growth Fund to kickstart the city’s waterfront development, revitalise the Hillside Workshop, support its burgeoning video game development industry and more.

The $60m worth of announcements, made by Regional Economic Development Minister Hon Shane Jones, were incredibly well received by the city, which has suffered through central government neglect for decades.

Hon Tracey Martin also launched the Better Later Life Strategy, the Coalition Government’s plan to help older New Zealanders enjoy a better quality of life. The Strategy outlines the key areas for government action, including increasing seniors’ financial security, their access to services and housing, and creating opportunities for community participation.

The announcement complements our delivery of an upgraded SuperGold website and new SuperGold app last month, which is already helping thousands of New Zealand seniors gain access to their SuperGold Card benefits.

Stay tuned for more from the New Zealand First team in the coming weeks as we continue to put New Zealanders first in government.
