Three centuries after the Enlightenment, and decades after blasphemy laws were overturned in England, blasphemy is being treated as criminal behaviour again in Europe.
Not blasphemy against any old religion, of course: Christianity can be profaned, mocked and vilified at will. Indeed, in parts of England it is now explicitly illegal for Christians to pray, even in their heads. But the most violent major religion in the world is gutlessly pandered to by European and British lawmakers.
Instead of standing up to protect everyone else from Islamic violence, British lawmakers are prostrating themselves and punishing anyone who dares ‘offend’ Muslims.
The British government has banned a Scandinavian politician from entering the country after he announced plans to burn a copy of the Quran – Islam’s holy book – in the West Yorkshire city of Wakefield.
Security minister Tom Tugendhat said Rasmus Paludan would not be allowed into the UK because it would not be “conducive to the public good”.
Why Wakefield? The city with a population of approximately 10 per cent Muslims was recently the scene of violent Islamic reactions to a 14-year-old autistic schoolboy dropping a copy of the Quran. The boy received death threats, West Yorkshire Police investigated him for a “hate incident” and his mother had to don a hijab and grovel to Islamic community leaders.
Even the school were more concerned about the hurty-stabby feelings of Muslims.
The school’s head teacher Tudor Griffiths said in a statement at the time, “We would like to reassure all our community that the holy book remains fully intact” […]
The local Labour MP Simon Lightwood, who was elected in a by-election last year, raised concerns about Paludan’s visit in the House of Commons on Monday.
Lightwood said: “Far-right Islamophobic Danish politician Rasmus Paludan said he is going to travel from Denmark to Wakefield for the sole purpose of burning a Quran in a public place.
And…? Is blasphemy a crime in Britain again?
It might also be noted that West Yorkshire Police and Yorkshire councils knowingly allowed Muslim men to run industrial-scale rape gangs targeting white and Sikh girls for decades. It’s estimated that between tens of thousands and half a million girls were targeted by Muslim rape gangs in the region. One girl was raped by up to 500 Muslim men when she was between 11 and 19 – she was the only one arrested by police, for “prostitution”.
Police, council members and social workers have admitted that they were well aware of it all, but turned a blind eye, for fear of being labelled ‘racist’.
In March 2021 a teacher at a grammar school in the Yorkshire town Batley went into hiding after receiving death threats after discussing the controversy over cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed in a lesson.
