An eagle-eyed Newstalk ZB journalist on his second day in the job spotted the boss of the FBI loitering in the bowels of parliament. But no one from the government will say if or why he’s here.

The head of the FBI – Kash Patel – has been spotted in parliament’s basement.

While officials are yet to confirm it was him, Finance Minister Nicola Willis told Stuff there were “lots of handsome men in suits who looked like they had guns” on level seven of the Beehive.

“I do not know if he’s here. I actually do not know. But there were all these men in suits in the Beehive,” she says.

Willis shares that floor with Foreign Affairs Minister Winston Peters and Deputy Prime Minister David Seymour. Judith Collins, who is the minister in charge of the spy agencies, is two levels below.
