Melissa Stokes is set to replace TVNZ presenter Simon Dallow, who is stepping down from presenting 1News after being part of the programme for 20 years.
Stokes will move from her weekend presenting role to anchor the bulletin five nights a week when Dallow finishes on November 28.
In a statement from TVNZ, it said Stokes’ career with the network spanned more than two decades and “has included a variety of reporting roles and time as 1News’ Europe Correspondent”.
They described her as respected and trusted by viewers, “having presented across TVNZ’s news slate including 1News at Six weekends, a position she’s held since 2019”.
