Former Labour Party MP Dame Tariana Turia has described the Government’s treatment of the protesters as an abuse of its powers. She described Speaker Trevor Mallard’s behaviour as bullying and said that she is against the mandates in principle.

She also stated that she has no confidence in Jacinda Ardern. She said that the protesters have a right to be heard and that if she wasn’t as old as she was she would be joining them.
